The Book on the Arms trade,
By Russell D. Melling "World's Greatest Anglophile" (Coatesville, Indiana) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Rulers, Guns, and Money: The Global Arms Trade in the Age of Imperialism (Hardcover)
Jonathan Grant's highly anticipated new book is a must-read for anyone interested in the inner workings of the pre-Great War international arms industry. I war especially interested in the chapters that dealt with arms trade in Africa and how the Great powers used the continent as a dumping ground for their obsolete weapons. What happened West Africa in the last decade of the twentieth century was just a replay of the arms dumping in the horn of Africa exactly a hundred years earlier. An excellent book.
