Review

IFBB pro, author and world-class motivational speaker, Tom Terwilliger's latest personal growth and development system, 7 RULES of Achievement will help you program for success THE most important piece of equipment you own-your brain!
--FLEX Magazine

"Memorize the RULES in this book and put them into action every time you feel frustrated or discouraged and like a magic bullet you will regain focus and start moving forward again.” --Tom Venuto, author of Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle

"By identifying and exploring the fundamentals of achievement or what Terwilliger describes as the 7 RULES, you will bypass the confusion often associated with-- "how can I do this?" and create a compelling and reproducible model for--just doing it.”  --Raymond Aaron, author of Double Your Income Doing What You Love

Book Description

“Tell me your goal and I will tell you WHY you are likely NOT to achieve it! The way in which you have pursued goals in the past has very likely created the exact opposite blueprint of the one needed to achieve what you want.  Those negative blueprints may be exactly what are keeping you from living your dreams.”    --Tom Terwilliger, 7 RULES of Achievement
This life changing book will help you finally create the new and empowering architecture needed to achieve whatever you want in your life… including abundant wealth, a joyful and fulfilling relationship, a sexy, strong and healthy body and your ability to lead and inspire. Even before completing the 7 RULES of Achievement you will immediately begin to feel "unstuck" and compelled to start moving towards even your most ambitious dreams.

More About the Author

Tom Terwilliger who has been called "One of the most motivating and inspiring individuals on the planet" was born an identical twin and grew up the youngest of six kids in a small Long Island town where his early beginnings were less than promising.

After wondering aimlessly adrift in the world of outlaw bikers for five years a near death experience opened his eyes to the likely hood that if something didn't change he would remain on a collision course with disaster. He got the message loud and clear that it was time to walk away.

Within five years of that decision he had not only turned his life around but had captured the prestigious Mr. America title, and was well on his way to a successful 16 year career as a Fox Sports Net TV show host, and fitness industry entrepreneur.

Since then Tom has become a prolific writer, speaker, personal development trainer, motivator and coach to thousands of people worldwide. His first published book 7 Rules of Achievement has been highly praised as a "treasure trove of experience and growth" by the personal development community.

Why sheer joy? I'll explain in a moment...

But first, I must ask: "What use is another book on success or in this case achievement? Have we not tried and failed before to become a more focused, results producing achiever?"

Goodness knows I have, many times. But alas, I am a creative person--or that's my excuse for living with chaos and sporadic results. So, I've tried to apply many systems, read endless books, taken week long courses in how to get focused and organized. Some work for some people, all with good intentions. But after reading Tom's "7 Rules of Achievement" it's clear to me now why all these seemingly wonderful, usually too complex programs have failed me.

They just lacked the crystal clear, grounded, logical, fool proof order of a real intelligent system borne of years of trial, error and experience.

In "The 7 Rules" I finally found just such a system and like a drink of water after a week in the scorching desert, I find myself refreshed, focused and on top of the world. This short, easy to follow book has taken the thorn of chaos and confusion out of my life and given me clarity and focus to take action. It's the most simple, sound and fool-proof system for achieving the sort of success you've yet to dream of.

This book and it's underlying system transform success into a system that's as easy at 1-2-3..4..5-6-7! You're gonna catch fire fast with ease.

WHY SHEER JOY?
Now, what did I suggest this book will bring sheer joy? It comes from a quote on page 35, by George Mallory, one of the first men to summit Mt. Everest. When asked, "What use is climbing Everest?" he responded, in summary, 'It is no use...we may learn little if anything...

Found Terwilliger's book through Tom Venuto's blog. Venuto has his own ebook on goal setting and the power of the subconscious mind and our need to program it to work towards goals. I recommend both books as they augment each other.

7 Rules is a well thought out guide that will help you ferret out what it is you really want, determine a clear and concise goal, show you how to chunk that goal into subgoals and give you the tools to reprogram your subconscious so it's working with you towards your goals and not against you.

Terwilliger's method is based in science. His personal story is inspirational and anecdotally gives credibility to his method.

The writing style is pleasant, set in a teaching tone (tell them what you're going to teach, teach, tell them what you've just taught them) without being overly redundant or tiring.

What most often draws me into a book is the person behind the pages--the sense I have of heart, experience and authenticity of the one to whom I'm giving my undivided attention. I need to feel a connection to the writer--as if I can feel what he's feeling as he shares his story. And if the chemistry is missing, I'm not one to waste my time.

Authenticity, heart, and down to earth honest experience; written with humility and passion, are the driving components of Tom Terwilliger's exposé on the essential principles for success in life--or as Terwilliger has so aptly titled his book, "The 7 Rules of Achievement." Within the first few pages, I knew instinctively this was a book I'd be sneaking into the bathroom to read!

I've read more than enough "self-help" books, having my MA in Psychology and a passion for personal growth. And so, picking up yet another book that promises some intangible treasure chest of wisdom that will alter my existence is a rare thing. A rarer thing is that I complete it within less than a week's time. Within Terwilliger's work, I found myself craving more and knowing, with each moment of taking it all in, that I was gaining a sense of achievement that I've not known before. This book is a life-changer!

This book was really hyped in the circles I run in, and I was frankly excited to read a new author on a very old subject. But to my dismay, it's pretty much a rehash of the myriad authors who have pioneered the subject. If you have read and learned from Napoleon Hill, Brian Tracy, Zig Ziglar, Tony Robbins, etc. then this book will be boring to you. It's in the genre of Bill Phillips and Tom Venuto, whose books are much better. I was kind of turned off by the tone of this book too - all about the author - too much so. It didn't feel genuine. More contrived. The sub-title is misleading too. I really didn't come away with a complete guide on how to program my internal success mechanism. I wanted deeper.

On the other hand, if you're reading this type of self-help material for the first time, or are very new to the genre, I think you will like it. Hence, 3 stars. 2 stars if you're well read in the subject.

This book gets right to the point in providing readers with a point by point list of actions YOU must take to achieve any goal you desire to accomplish. Actually, the book poses the questions, and provides the structure, YOU must answer the questions and YOU must do the hard work.

I am constantly reading books on success so that I can stay focused, or in hopes of extracting one new kernel of information that will empower me to think about pursuing my goals more effectively. Perhaps the most refreshing aspect of the book is that there is no lofty language, and no gushing new age dogma. This book is about getting down to business and DOING the hard work instead of daydreaming about it or "feeling it."

Get the book, and do the work necessary to achieve your goals. You WILL succeed.
