Great Soundtrack!!! (Might contain spoilers),

It seems that nobody figured out that the songs on this cd are in the exact order that they appear in the film.Carol of the Bells by tomandandy is the song that plays during the opening sequence at the party. Great Instrumental (4/5) The song playing when Sean wakes up in the sprinklers is Six Different Ways by The Cure. Reminded me of being in the womb again (5/5) The song playing when Paul is dancing at the end of the world party (when he's flirting with Mitch) Out of the Races and On to the Tracks - The Rapture. Great Garage/Indie song. (5/5) When Lauren and Sean wake up and end up meeting each other is Colours by Donova. Mellow track (4/5) Situation - Yaz A neat 80s Electro song. (4/5) I can't remember the precise moment that these songs come up in the movie. Situation might be the song that's playing in the car when Harry? (Jay Baruchel) is ODing. Faith by George Michael (The scene with Dick and Paul in their underwear) is missing from the soundtrack and that's a bummer because it's one of the best scenes. The song from the Dress to get screwed party that's missing from the soundtrack is When I get you alone by Thicke there's a sample from the phantom of the opera. It's also an awesome song, but it would mess up this CD's lineup. Without You - Harry Nilsson. The song where the food service girl kills herself. A Classic (4/5) The Gentleman Who Fell - Milla Jovovich I don't remember when this song comes up but I hate it anyways (2/5) Snow Theater/Final Steps - tomandandy This is one of the best songs, when Paul and Sean both realize that they'll never get the one that they love. (5/5)

Great music from a great movie!,

This movie was so interesting. It's not a teeny-bopper movie and nobody under the age of 17 should see it, but the soundtrack was very thoughtfully chosen and went along with the movie about as well as Ferris Bueller's Day Off. There are some songs from the movie not on this album:-A Girl Like You by Wolfgang Press -Rise by Public Image Limited -When I Get you Alone by Thicke (Dress to Get Screwed Party scene) -Faith by George Michael -Lust to Love by The Go Go's -Sei Dein Eigeiner Held by Jens Albert -My Pal Peanut by Serge Gainsbourg -Aida Grand March by tomandandy

I really like this album but do like the different version from the movie of colours better as well. That version is actually on an out-of-print album. It is a 1969 stereo version of the song rather than the original 1965 mono version. Anyway, the 1969 version is on the greatest hits album that is now out of print. You can find it on ebay fairly easily however. The catalog # for this CD is EK 26439.

Review,

A lot of familiar songs such as Harry Nilsson's "Without You" and Love and Rocket's "So Alive", that we've all heard many times since the 1980's, but have a new feel to them after viewing their placements in this dark and satirical film. I've been listening to this in my portable player for the last 3 days, and still feel odd and fuzzy during some songs. Either that or it's the medication.

What Lauren would listen to...,

This review is from: Rules of Attraction (Audio CD)
...but both the movie and the book are about Sean. It is a good mix of '80s songs, Tom & Andy music, and vivid imagery from the movie. In the book, Ellis writes about many songs which are indispensible for any Reagan-era soundtrack, but the movie takes place AFTER the '80s and therefore pieces like Milla Jovovich's "The Gentleman who Fell" are included. It's too bad the producers of this compilation didn't add George Michael's "Faith" because it plays such an important part in the best scene of the movie. BTW, do yourself a favor and read the book and then watch the movie. This is a good CD; I listened to it (over and over agin) while I read the book and it provided good company to the creepy Camdem kids and their story.

The part where Bateman punches out Laura's roomate,
By A Customer
This review is from: Rules of Attraction (Audio CD)
A lot of people are asking about the music that plays when Bateman punches out laura's roomate. Well if you listen to the commentary by the director, he says that it's part of the score. I am guessing that it's unreleased and if you wish to, you can rip it from the dvd audio. It's quite clear, with little background noise. ciao.

Fitting of the movie...,
By Laura Leigh (Setauket, NY United States) - See all my reviews

This movie is bizarre. I went to see this movie thinking it was just some raunchy colleg-kid movie that my girlfriends and I could laugh at but I left the theater saying, "That was _____ up!" It was an artsy movie to be honest. It required thought, and that is why the soundtrack is so fitting. Number ten, Without You is an old song that everyone knows, but after seeing the movie it has this new eeriness to it. the TomandAndy songs are just great. They kind of jump around and get your brain working. They have a sort of melodic craziness to them and I like it. The Gentleman who fell is another great song, kind of graceful and pretty. European Vacation is crazy! If you see the movie, you are more likely to understand the soundtrack. It's great for in the car when you're just driving alone. Pick it up if you like interesting collections of music.
