Seems kind of early to have a Rules Compendium, given that 4th Edition was only released 2 years ago. They've been reworking the system every 5 months or so since then, and printing updates in newer books.
Are they going to stop changing the rules this summer?

That would be nice if they could finish up with "tweaking the system". As a DM, I wouldn't mind having all the most up-to-date rules in one book with me. As it is I hate having to constantly look up different errata and various changes. If I buy this thing and they make a rules change within 6 months, I'm going to mail it right back to WOTC and make them update it! Who am I kidding...

Actually... Go to WOTC web site and read the article "The Countdown Commences". They are "Tweeking" the system. One thing I got out of the article is they are eliminating Daily powers and enhancing Encounter powers. But you can still play your "old" 4th edition character without remaking him/her. Sounds like Edition 4.5 to me.

They do talk about eliminating Dailies and enhancing Encounters, but then the Warpriest article on Friday shows Warpriests getting the same amount of Dailies as any other Cleric. I'm guessing that "looking at" eliminating Dailies means they did it for some but not all of the new Builds, the same way some but not all Psionic Classes have Power Points.

I just think of the ease, instead of looking through three player handbooks, a number of updates, having one source will be so much easier.

I just saw a review of the red box and I definitely plan on picking this up. I admit I've been a bit apprehensive about jumping in to 4th ed, but this essentials line looks like it will bring in alot more fans into the hobby

The price is right for a compendium. I mean if I can pick it up 20 bucks in a store or 13.5 from amazon - having one of these to lug around is really not that bad of a deal.

Otherwise It's not like I go out of my way to track down errata and rules changes, so this fits right in with my plans, especially if they want to add such a significant mechanic. I know a lot of people are claiming 4.5, but I don't' see it.. yet. I think they realize what a bad move that would be.
