I really, liked this book. Leah Brooke, has a knack of writing believable and heartfelt stories. The main character Erin, really was a heroine in this book for me, she showed her weakness, and her faults that every modern day woman could relate to. I believed that the men in the story really cared for her, and wanted to be protective but keep her personality intact. What modern day woman wouldn't love that!? I felt the story was romantic and very sexy. Reader beware, there is lots' of anal play, and spanking that might be a turn off for some. I would have liked to have read about more individual interplay between each individual character. But, for a menage story this was fulfilling. I would recommend the reader begin at book one of this series.

It seemed I waited forever for this to come out in PB and then was really disappointed! After all Leah's other really terrific and HOT "Desire" books I was especially let down with this one. The plot had so much potential.
Erin, a very strong, independent, woman and ex-CEO's Assistant of a major company, moves to Desire, OK to be with her pregnant sister Rachel and tries to be understanding of her sisters', and the town's unusual menage and D/s practices. When in Rome... etc. But she has many doubts, insecurities, and defensive walls erected because of her past, and her doubts and questions about this strange place her sister has adopted. The three strapping Preston brothers- who build furniture in a workshop behind their house- decide they want Erin, and go after her despite her feelings of wanting to stay distant from the residents of Desire and their unusual ways. When someone drugs her at a party they take advantage of her vulnerability and whisk her off to their house to "protect" her. During this time they continually break down her walls- using sex, and making her submissive to them. This is kind of the point of Leah's books- teaching the women that they can love and trust in their men and and it's okay to let them take some of the burden the women are usually caring around, off their shoulders. It was a good suspense and really HOT up to this point. Where I get upset is at the end when they've finally broken down all Erin's defenses, and she proves to everyone how strong she really is after engaging with the villain. Afterward, the brothers decide that she needs to verbally confess she was wrong to have put herself in a dangerous position, and that she will always obey them in the future! Normally, I would've been okay with this- the town was founded on the belief of 'any man of Desire being responsible in protecting his woman, and any unclaimed single woman of their town from danger, at all times'. Being the strong independent woman that Erin is and was, she is totally against either confession of having recklessly put herself in danger, or needing to obey anyone! She felt empowered by taking on the villain, she had been responsible for Rachel and herself for years, and no-way was she going to obey anyone, or need someone to take care of her! They use sex and their physical strength, to coerce her into saying things she didn't believe in. The men even admit later that they knew she wouldn't obey them, and was looking forward to the challenge of punishing her in the future. So what was the point? If they had asked it in a respectful and loving way I would've been okay, but in this case- I totally did not feel their love and respect. It felt more like three chauvinistic, Neanderthal men trying to break a beautiful, strong, intelligent, and independent women just to prove to the other men of the town that they were in charge of their "little woman". I was so hoping she'd threaten to move back out to show them she wasn't going to "obey" them without their equal love and respect but alas, it didn't happen. Definitely not one of Leah's better books.

I enjoy this series very much, but this won't isn't the best. It felt more formated than the first few of the series. It was fun to see the characters from the other books in the series.

I really love Leah Brooke's "Desire" series. The men are all Alpha heroes, yet the women are strong and spunky. You get to revisit characters from the past books, as well as meet new ones you can't wait to find out about. The sex is hot, hot, hot. In addition, the storyline makes you care about the characters and what happens to them.If there was a real place like Desire, I would move there quickly, and I'm sure I would not be the only one.

Another Desire book for my Keeper shelf,

This review is from: Rules of Desire [Desire, Oklahoma 4] (Siren Publishing Menage Amour) (Paperback)
I enjoyed this book along with all my other Leah Brook in the "Desire" series.
I consider it a keeper and a very enjoyable read. The town of Desire is "unusual" and due to the nature of that all the relationships are a bit off the beaten path; which makes them such fun reads. In "Rules of Desire" - Erin, sister to Rachel from "Creation of Desire" has moved to Desire and is not sure what to think of the "odd" relationships that seem common to this special community. Erin has relationship issues to begin with; then add the prospect of multiple partners to the mix and she figures that's a recipe for disaster - so when she finds the man she is seeing is into "sharing" with his bothers...she's out of there but fast. Interesting plot twists, weave it's way through this story and we get to re-encounter enjoyable moments with previous characters from the Desire story line. Its just fun reading how the Preston brothers (Reese, Jared and Duncan) try and claim their woman. Ya, the guys get a bit Neanderthal at times but not in a bad way if you ask me. These are Alphas trying to keep their "woman" safe. They like the fact she's a bit rebellious and that they will have to spend a lifetime "taming" her. These men love Erin and are filling their role in the book doing their Dom routine as is expected in this series. This book is a fun fantasy and it's a hot read. I'm looking forward to more in this series.

Totally agree with deb! A group of men using their physical strength to force a woman (who is fighting and protesting) into a non-consensual submissive relationship is not about love, and it's also not sexy. If Leah Brooke wants to promote alternative lifestyles she should play by the rules herself (safe, sane and CONSENSUAL) and not glorify and encourage abusive relationships. This plot did have a lot of potential and could have been handled in a way that both respected Erin's strength and allowed her to give up sexual control in a healthy way that she was comfortable with. She had legitimate concerns about the menage concept and psychological issues with giving up control. If they really loved her they would have helped her learn to trust them voluntarily instead of breaking down her barriers ... and the sex would have been hotter too. Very unpleasant read.

Rules of Desire,
This review is from: Rules of Desire [Desire, Oklahoma 4] (Siren Publishing Menage Amour) (Paperback)
Erin Robinson quit her job in Houston and moved to Desire, Oklahoma to take care of her pregnant sister, Rachel. Buying into Rachel's lingerie store she settled into life in the small town. Erin even started dating Reese Preston but she had to stop when she found that she was equally attracted to his brothers, Jared and Duncan. She felt by being attracted to Reese's brothers she was betraying him. She believed a monogamous relationship involved one man and one woman while Reece, Jared, and Duncan were into a ménage a quattro. Reese, Jared, and Duncan who made custom furniture spotted Erin and set about to claim her as their own. However, they soon discovered that not only do they have to fight the barriers that Erin has erected around herself, but they must also fight an unknown assailant who has targeted her because of their new relationship together. Rules of Desire is book 4 of the Desire, Oklahoma series. I didn't read the other books so I wasn't too sure of the rules in Desire, but that didn't seem to matter too much as I quickly learned that the most important one was - obedience to your men! Once you were claimed you stayed claimed and all the men seemed to know who would claim whom. Reese, Jared, and Duncan Preston were dominant, possessive men who knew what they wanted and went after it. They set boundaries for their woman and they enforced punishment when that line was crossed, but never out of abuse. The inner fight that Erin faced as she struggled with herself, her desires, and the three hunks was not solved overnight, but gradually eased as the story progressed. She learned to trust her men and love them equally while her men fought to keep her and make the relationship permanent. Reese, Jared, and Duncan seemed to know just how far they could push Erin to obtain what they needed from her and they played that to the fullest. Rules of Desire is full of scorching scenes which just burned up the pages as this ménage a quattro found pleasure in one another and together. Rules of Desire had it all: a villain, humor, love, family, and oodles of decadent couplings to keep the temperature up and the readers enthralled! Vanessa Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed
