On a sad day in November 2006, Aimee Quemuel had just returned from walking her dog Cody on the beach when he collapsed at her feet. Aimee frantically rushed Cody to the veterinarian where sadly, he was diagnosed with an incurable cancer and given only days to live. Like anyone who receives such a horrifying diagnosis about a loving member of the family, she was devastatingly shocked, hurt and confused. But unlike many of us, she didn't give up. The "few days" Cody was given by the vet who diagnosed his disease as hemangiosarcoma, turned out to be 519 days. Cody, a golden retriever, lived to the ripe old age of 12 yrs. and 7 months!

But they all share one thing in common, their dogs survived well past their survival date.

When he passed away from the complications of a stroke brought on by old age, he was almost 13 years old (91 human years). At the time of his death, the vets believed him to be cancer-free.
