More About the Author

Dale Robyn Siegel is a licensed attorney in New York and President of Circle Mortgage Group, a boutique mortgage broker since 1998 assisting hundreds of people each year obtain the right mortgage. She is the author of the recently released book, The New Rules for Mortgages (Penguin/Alpha: September 2009) and an adjunct professor at both NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate and Baruch College. Dale is an long time advocate for consumer education on real estate and a sought after public speaker on the topic, doing hundreds of seminars on home buying and real estate finance nationwide.

NYU recently hired her to help develop and teach the new federally required 20-Hour Mortgage Loan Originator S.A.F.E. Comprehensive Certification Course for mortgage professionals. She is currently working on refining the course textbook, as always continuously updating it as the rules change. Working hard to educate the young adult on personal finance and home ownership, Dale went on the road with the teams of the WNBA a few years ago, lecturing about real estate transactions and finance. She is often interviewed and quoted by 20 and 30- something bloggers and journalists about first time home buying. Dale has always held a contrarian view on home ownership (it is not for everybody) and real estate finance (don't borrow more than you know you should) and is considered a trusted expert in her field.

A contrarian thinker in the mortgage industry, she predicted both the real estate bubble and the collapse of the mortgage industry. Dale holds an undergraduate degree in finance, an MBA and JD. (No, she is not boring at parties!) She lives in the New York Metropolitan area and is an avid bicycler and world traveler. After a year of writing and editing The New Rules for Mortgages, she has committed to another consumer real estate book due out next year. With the use of technology, there are several great adventures on the horizon- have NetBook will travel.

5.0 out of 5 stars I do what Dale Siegel does and....., January 5, 2010
This review is from: The New Rules for Mortgages (Paperback)
as a mortgage professional for over 20 years, Dale's writing on the topics necessary for any homebuyer, whether it be first time or repeat is the perfect read.
The book is quick, concise and inserts the author's brand of humor on what most folks would feel is a very dry topic.
I firmly believe in educating my buyers and this is a book I will recommend to them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent primer for anyone considering a mortgage in 2010, April 13, 2010
This review is from: The New Rules for Mortgages (Paperback)
This recent book spells out everything you could possibly need to know about borrowing for a mortgage in 2010. It starts with the basics, and defines the lending process and all the options available for a borrower in this new age of lending. The book is very thorough and defines your FICO score and how it can affect your interest rate, and also what you can do to improve your credit rating. The old rules of borrowing from 10 or 20 years ago have changed substantially in the past few years, and Dale Siegel's entertaining yet detailed book can help anyone learn how things are different. There are still a lot of options available for any loan, and she steps through the various loan products, insurance, fees and add on products available in our world's very complicated borrowing procedure, from applying for the original loan through the final closing. The amazing thing about her book is she explains all of this while still keeping the book engaging and interesting. I would highly recommend this book for anyone preparing to enter the world of home ownership and taking on the largest debt of their lives. Even second and third time borrowers can find this book useful since the borrowing process has likely changed significantly from when they acquired their first mortgage.
