5.0 out of 5 stars Rules for Roommates, July 12, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Rules for Roommates: The Ultimate Guide to Reclaiming Your Space and Your Sanity (Paperback)
This is absolutely one of the best books I have ever read. Mary Lou Podlasiak delivers some terrific and practical advice through hilarious stories and real life examples of roommates living together in many different situations. This is a must read for anyone sharing their living space with another person - friends, syblings, even spouses. It will help you deal with the difficulties of roommates, add a little humor to your situation, and appreciate the benefits of having a roommate. Read it!

5.0 out of 5 stars "The Rules" Definately Rates, November 4, 2000
By
This review is from: Rules for Roommates: The Ultimate Guide to Reclaiming Your Space and Your Sanity (Paperback)
If you share a dorm room or an apartment, this is a "must have." It is a great tension buster in which you will feel empathy for the little things that drive you big-time crazy about your roommate. You'll surely giggle-snort through most of it, especially when you discover you've unknowingly been breaking a few rules yourself. Makes a great coffee table book.

Rules for Roommates was a lifesaver to me. I live with 5 other women and this book made me realize that I am not the only person to deal with rotten roommates. Rules for Roommates also helped me find humor in many things that happened in my house. Through the many stories and antedotes in the book, I discovered new and origional ways to handle roommate situations. I definitely reccommend this book to everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rules for Roomates, December 11, 2000
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Rules for Roommates: The Ultimate Guide to Reclaiming Your Space and Your Sanity (Paperback)
Everyone who has ever had a roomate (and that's everyone!)will get a charge out of this book! You'll either recognize roomates you've had -- or maybe even recognize yourself! It's funny, it's witty, it's wise. Most of all, it's perfect for anyone you know who is about to begin the life experience of sharing a space with someone else. Even though it's written for same-sex roomates, couples newly living together would do well to check it out -- they could discover things they do that drive their mate mad, as well! Perfect gift for someone going away to college or entering the work world after graduation -- anyone who is about to begin sharing space with a roomate for the first time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why didn't I know about this book before???, May 3, 2002
This review is from: Rules for Roommates: The Ultimate Guide to Reclaiming Your Space and Your Sanity (Paperback)
Hysterically funny -- the author says what you're afraid to say to your roommate. Everyone should read this, especially teenagers before they leave for college. I wish I would have had it my freshman year; I would have stuck it under my roommate's nose!

5.0 out of 5 stars Get some advice and be entertained at the same time, July 10, 2008
This review is from: Rules for Roommates: The Ultimate Guide to Reclaiming Your Space and Your Sanity (Paperback)
The author does a great job of getting a large amount of advice out in an entertaining, yet helpful, way. Her narrative, mixed with quotes from real people relating their roommate problems, covers just about any circumstance people sharing space could possibly have. The horrors of college dorm life - the druggie, the nonstop singer, and the bomb-maker roommates, to name a few - are exposed and solutions revealed. Not surprisingly, messiness is a huge problem, and we learn that two slobs don't make a right/match because someone has to eventually clean up the place.

We hear about romantic roommates, stingy roommates, roommates who read other people's mail, flirt with other peoples significant others, or have their love interests around 24/7. Most examples include some sort of resolution, though not always the easiest, kindest, or most honest.

Kids headed for college, or other shared living adventures, would be wise to read this book before picking roommates. In most instances, they will be sharing very close quarters with one or more persons for the better part of every day for an extended period of time. This book will help them to begin this life phase with eyes wide open. 50 Ways to Leave Your Mother

This review is from: Rules for Roommates: The Ultimate Guide to Reclaiming Your Space and Your Sanity (Paperback)
As an RA at Ohio State, I'd like to encourage incoming freshman, especially girls, to get this book! It would make my job so much easier if everyone would just read the practical advice this author gives for getting along with your roommate. And the best part is this: THIS BOOK IS FUNNIER THAN A MONKEY FIGHT AT THE ZOO!
