PUNCH ME IN THE FACE, PLEASE,
By
This review is from: Rules (Audio CD)
Like a big hairy fist to your face, Supagroup beats you to a pulp. This album is what rock and roll is ALL about. LOUD PROUD AND ROCKING THE CROWD! Supagroup seriously rocks without taking themselves seriously. Humor is in their veins and they know they aren't breaking any new ground, They are just crushing old ground under their heels, grinding it up, mixing it with Tequila and puring it into a marshall stack.
DO you Like AC/DC? Jackyl? Old School Rock? Supersuckers? Rhino Bucket? ( points for even knowing who they are) Then you will like Supagroup. No processed guitars, no guitar acrobatics, just straight up 3 chord songs with amps cranked to 11. Hooky choruses, chunky riffs, and angus inspired solos. just a note, I bought both albums at the same time, and Rules beat out their first album and is still in my cd player in my truck.

I Love This Group!,

Yes, they sound a lot like ACDC but in a good, a very good way. I love ACDC and Rules is just as good or better than a lot of what ACDC has done. The only problem with this band is the stupid name. The songs are great and the whole CD rocks. If you like no frills, straight ahead, down and dirty rock n' roll get this CD. Althouth their self titled disc is more popular and easier to find Rules is far better.

A Great Band!,

This is the best new band album Ive got in years. Everything clicked for me, starting with the cover of the cd, a takeoff of "Enter the Dragon", straight through to the last song.
Having said that, my faves are Ready To Go, Hot Times, and Hog Wild. Look forward to seeing more from this band. Check em' out!

When it comes to Supagroup, the only thing I have against them is there name, which has got to be the laziest sounding in rock history, but then again,it's not about labels,it's about the music.
The production on this album is amazing. It's been said that these were all live takes, and I wouldn't be surprised if they are.Every song is high energy,no nonsense rock. This is the same producer who did Silvertide's debut album(which also deserves checking out.)These guys really must have blasted their old Van Halen,70s Aerosmith, and 70s ACDC albums growing up,because the influence is definitely there but with good measure."Ready To Go" is a blasting opener, which wouldn't have been out of place on Van Halen 1 or 2.The old school Aerosmith influence is heard on "Hot Times" with a Joe Perry-like riff sure to get you bangin' your head."B**tard" opens up with an ACDC like intro reminscent of their work in the late 70s."I'm Gonna Change" is a real shocker. On an album full of heavy party rock, you would think a slower number like this with an organ in it would come off as trying too hard. This isn't the case, the songs is very heart felt and genuine. Please don't take my comparisons to other bands as down talking this band,I just get a better sense of a band and their sound when they're compared to someone else.Other than that,I really don't much to say about this album, you have to listen to this badboy to truly understand the quality of this heavy rock record.Alice Cooper also said Supagroup is the only opening band they've had since Guns N Roses which received standing ovations. This is heavy rock the way it was meant to be played.

One of the best cds of the new millenium,

This is a great great great rock and roll disc. Supagroup expand their sound a bit and tap into early Roth-era Van Halen which is much welcome. The song writing is better than their previous self titled album but what makes this disc really shine is the excellent production job that manages to sound raw yet melodic. Great job guys.

The world needs Supagroup,

This is the most fun I've had listening to music in a long time. The way real bands used to be. Gritty like early Aerosmith, fun like David Lee Roth Van Halen and tight tight tight. They are great live too. This is no crappy Wyld Stallions - this music will save the planet.

Has AC/DC not put out enough albums?,
By
This review is from: Rules (Audio CD)
If you need more AC/DC albums in your life, "Rules" is the perfect disc. I like Supagroup's no-holds-barred attitude and catchy riffs. Sometimes, they cross the line from inspired to AC/DC-copying, like on "Bastard" or "I'm Gonna Change". "Rough Edge" proves they should keep the songs short. The lyrics are very old-school, in Supagroup's world it's like Bon Scott didn't die from partying to much.

c-c-c-can I get a refund?,

Pretty lame rock here, really nothing special. Like a guy said in his review, has AC/DC not put out...oh wait I cannot say that because it is not within the guidelines, my bad!
Yeah, they try to be stoner rock while trying to uh, convey some hip image from days gone by. Seriously, it is not that good and you should look more towards real talent than garage band wannabes because how in the world they got signed is beyond me. Supagroup, I mean even the name is kind of ridiculous.

Rocks & Rules!,

This is a great album. Straight forward, heavy rock done extremely well. These guys really do kick major ass. I have seen this band a few times and have other, earlier albums, each good, but this one is by far their best. Far superior to anything else currently being piped to the masses. Pure, sweet rock!
