Book Description

He let her make the rules…

NYC’s most eligible bachelor, Brit Bencher, is also known as The Slayer for his reputation in the boardroom…and the bedroom. And he’ll do anything to take care of his family, even seduce high-powered corporate attorney Tori Anderson in the hopes of getting her to reveal confidential information about one of her clients. But for the first time in his life, he finds he’s falling for a woman.

…and then he started to break them.

After juggling the demands of her career and the stress of caring for her ailing mother, Tori Anderson doesn’t have time for relationships—but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t want to feel like a woman. When Brit offers a no-strings attached fling, it sounds like exactly what she needs. But what will she do when Brit decides he won’t take “one night stand” for an answer? When Tori uncovers his lies, will he lose his chance with her forever?

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Inara Scott's Rules of Negotiation is everything I love in a book-smart, snappy dialogue, a hero to die for and heroine to root for. Wicked, sexy and fun, with lots of heat and plenty of heart. This is one deal you'll want to negotiate ASAP!"
-Susan Sey, award-winning author of Money Honey (Berkley).

"Inara pens a gorgeous, sexy hero in Brit, a hero with flaws who isn't afraid to admit them when it counts. [H]eroine Tori is a feisty, upfront heroine who I loved for her forthrightness, her confidence in her work and her vulnerability in her personal life. Together, these two strong willed characters equal fireworks!"
-Nicola Marsh, USA Today Bestselling Author.

"Reading this made me think about what dreams I may want to resurrect and also who I am trying to make happy. Is it me or am I doing what I think is expected of me? This is an author I will definitely be reading again."
-Patti, Romancing the Book

"I adored this book. The writing is powerful with a beautiful style that just kept the pages turning. I completely identified with the strength of the heroine, fell in love with the sexiness of the hero, and rooted for them the whole way through."
-Jennifer Probst, USA Today Bestselling Author

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST READ! March 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
First of all, I have to say I've always been a fan of romance novels if they're well written. I consider well written to mean they have a plot and characters who are more than skin deep and maybe some dialogue to go along with the all the naughty scenes. I am so happy to report that Inara Scott's Rules of Negotiation fits all these criteria. The story is sweet and funny while still being sexy, the characters are well developed and likable and the plot moves steadily, pulling you along for the ride.

This book draws you in from the very beginning and you are rooting for the characters and their happy ever after before long. I laughed, cried and sighed as the story went on. My husband laughed at me but I don't care, I'm used to it. :) The story is told from the third person perspective and it's really fun to see both sides as the couple struggles with their unexpected feelings for one another.

Inara Scott is such a talented voice in the romance genre. Her ability to tell a compelling story really translates into any genre she tries her hand at. I cannot wait to read her next endeavor.

After reading short Alone With You: An Erotic Thriller Special, Rules of Negotiation by Inara Scott was up on my list. Lived the cover, so wickedly hot. I immediately noticed on the very first page how confident this author writes. It's that kind of writing you want to trust and burrow into. The next thing I noticed is how solid she made her heroine. It is so easy to relate to Tori's character. And even her minor ones, the elderly neighbor--and Fritzy the cat!--have their own personalities that are unique and we can appreciate in a story.

And then, enter Brit.

Ms. Scott knew how to write sexy men. Because he's just oozing with it. It wasn't just because you can really imagine how handsome he is, but he's also intelligent, magnetic, confident, knew what he wanted, controlling, powerful, rich--every bit that makes a man hot, she has given him in dosages. And you realize how solid Tori's character really is once she she was pitted to him on their very first meeting. And I knew by then, of course, that this is one of the stories I will not easily forget and will probably read again when I needed a bunch of comfort reading on a rainy day. Which reminds me, if you're one of those book-than-ebook type, you'll probably buy a printed copy of this book, too.

Love Betsy. Love the LOL moments, and the emotional punches on the second half of the book. The ending felt a little rushed but that will not lessen the five stars. I would love to read stories about Ross and Melissa, and about lovable Jerry. I will definitely read this author again. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars One Hot Awesome Read March 10, 2012
By Erica
Format:Kindle Edition
Rules of Negotiation by Inara Scott was such a great read! I read almost straight through it - I didn't want to put it down! The story was so easy to get caught up in and the characters were awesome.

I really loved the characters of Rules of Negotiation. Tori was such an easy character to relate to. I also just loved Betsy - she was too funny! Brit was character that you really couldn't help but to fall for. Both Brit and Tori had their flaws, and they just fit together perfectly to work through them.

The chemistry between Tori and Brit just leaped off the page. There were some hot scenes between them, but there were also quite a few scenes that were just absolutely adorable. Any scene with Betsy were easily some of my favorites of the book.

I am really eager to read more romance from Inara Scott! Rules of Negotiation was just an absolute gem, and I loved it!

4.0 out of 5 stars great, easy read March 14, 2013

This was the first book I have read by this author and I would definitely read more of her work. Rules of Negotiation was the type of romance that I like - good characters, heart felt situations, and no "angst filled conflict" that seem to drag down so many stories!

3.0 out of 5 stars it had more potential..... July 9, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
From the beginning Brit will be portrayed as a big family man. Ok, thats great. But I highly doubt that his familial obligations will get him into this situation with Tori. The book itself was just alright. The characters were average, not a great attraction. I just felt the family addition to the book and then the very abrupt ending and its beleivability is a bit... rushed. The author could have made it not so quick ending, it would have given it more beleivability.

Attorney Tori Anderson is in negotiations for her client Jerry and his company's acquisition with the CEO of Excorp, Brit Bencher. After the meeting adjourns, Brit asks Tori out to dinner. With alterative motives in mind, he only admits that he would like to get to know her better. She's reluctant to answer him right away because of her skepticism as to why the sudden interest, and therefore, tells him she will think about it and call him. After reading the contract and talking it over with her client, she is satisfied that Mr. Bencher is on the up-and-up and decides to accept his invitation for dinner. And so their story begins...

Eventually, and many pages later, Tori and Brit's overwhelming desire for one another come to a head when they are in the throes of each other's arms and give into one another. But it will all come crashing down, when Tori discovers what Brit really wanted from her. And that will not only have a devastating effect on Tori, but it will tear at Brit's heart. For you see, at this juncture in the narrative, he has fallen deeply in love with her, and he will stop at nothing to get her back. And get her back and into his arms he does. However, it will be only after much persuasion and the realization that both will lose each other forever without telling the other how they really feel. And the conclusion of the story tells it all...exquisite!

A well-written, delightful story; coupled with the most influential characters, truly makes this an extremely pleasurable read! Highly Recommend!

I liked "Exposing Alix" better. This book didn't have as much character development as I would have liked. Felt rushed.

2.0 out of 5 stars stubborn heroine
Tori annoyed me. She was cold and unrelenting. This story was unbelievable. There's no way a man would give her that many chances and pursue her through all of her rejections. Read more
