This review is from: Rum & Reggae's Jamaica (Rum & Reggae series) (Paperback)
This should not be the ONLY guidebook to Jamaica you buy - Lonely Planet is my favorite for specific and comprehensive info on hotels, sights, eats. But this one offers a truly unique perspective and is a highly entertaining (though short at 45 pages) read. The author hates all-inclusives, loves Negril and has an interesting rundown on golf courses and the fancier villa resorts of MoBay and Port Antonio....right alongside a review of the best mushroom tea houses in Negril. The only areas he really goes into are those I mention, and Kingston, and only a few hotels and restaurants in each. I wish it were a longer book, it was an interesting and amusing read. |
