4.0 out of 5 stars Law & Order 19--Video On Demand--New Actors Infuse New Life into Old Series, August 17, 2009
This review is from: Law & Order Season 19 (Amazon Instant Video)
I am recommending all of Season 19 not just this one episode but this show is not available on DVD so you will have to watch it online. I watched it online on my macbook and it was fine that way. I was able to buy the whole season on itunes. I watched it during the same season that it was playing on tv (last year).

Ok, let me admit that I miss Jerry Orbach as one of the detectives, Lenny. He was terrific and the reason he is no longer on the show is that he died. I must say that this show did a good job on hiring two actors for this series who breathed new life into it. These are Jeremy Sisto, who played Billy on SIX FEET UNDER, and Linus Roache, who is a terrific feature film actor from Britain. I've loved Roache in every movie I've seen him so was floored when he accepted a role in a tv series. Roache plays the role that Sam Waterston used to play, as the prosecutor who tries the cases. He is as passionate as Waterson was about law and justice. Waterston has now been bumped upstairs to the top job, which he barely holds onto because he isn't very good at playing politics. Sisto replaces Orbach as the police detective. There are other replacements but they are not nearly as strong. It is these two who have really given this series a new lease on life. Otherwise, the formula remains the same. You start with a crime, then the detectives investigate it, then the prosecutors try it. At the end you may or many not end up with a conviction. This formula has not changed in 19 years. Without this new life breathed into the series, I might be about to give up on it. However, these two actors kept me watching season 19. Definitely worth a look.
