4.0 out of 5 stars E-z solution if tips over in wind
If your greenhouse tips over in high winds, put a black solar bag of water on the bottom rack-the weight will keep from tipping over in high winds. In the day the water heats up and helps keep the inside warm at night. Hey, pretty good for a girl!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for plants, but not too sturdy
I have had a great time starting a bunch of seeds in the house during the cold months. As soon as it was time to set outside to harden the plants I did and then a LIGHT wind came by and toppled it over. That killed over half of my plants! Either by snapping them in half or crushing them. I picked up the pieces and tried it again but had my wrought iron lawn chairs...

4.0 out of 5 stars Functional but not portable, July 11, 2006

Pros: Value Priced, looks good, functional
Cons: Somewhat flimsy, not portable once assembled

This is a nice functional greenhouse.

Setup is easy, but a little intimidating when you first open the box because there are about 50 pieces. But soon you realize it's all just long bars, short bars, plastic sides, and wire racks - and it really couldn't be simpler to put together in less than 3 minutes.

I find the greenhouse to be nice and functional. Holds starters and small plants. I haven't had the wind problem that others have described, but I keep this on my deck near the house, so maybe it's just sheltered enough from the elements to not tip over.

I know this says "Portable" but it's not really portable in assembled form. The bars/tubes don't really "snap" into place. It's more like you just layer one shelf on top of another using the bars. If you try to move this after assembly, the bars tend to fall out of place. I discovered this after assembling indoors and attempting to carry outdoors. And after I put the pieces back in place and put my plants on the shelves, I tried to budge the whole unit over a couple of feet to another spot on the deck. Again, some pieces came loose - not horribly - just to the point that I had to wedge a few bars them back into their holes. No big deal, but again, not as "portable" as the name suggests. I mean, you can disassemble and move - but you can do that with a lot of things that aren't classified as portable.

Overall, I'm happy. Good price, looks nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very convenient, April 6, 2007

Frankly, I did not expect so good a product for the price.
I used plastic ties to secure wire shelves to pipes and placed an old
dishpan on bottom shelf. Blew over and broke one zipper so I used
4 tent stakes to secure it in ground.
The plastic covering is very clear and permits ample sunlight to reach
plants and heat dishpan water. I've added a thermometer and add a 1/2
gallon of boiling water to dishpan when nighttime temperature is projected to be below 30.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for plants, but not too sturdy, April 22, 2004

I have had a great time starting a bunch of seeds in the house during the cold months. As soon as it was time to set outside to harden the plants I did and then a LIGHT wind came by and toppled it over. That killed over half of my plants! Either by snapping them in half or crushing them. I picked up the pieces and tried it again but had my wrought iron lawn chairs holding it in place in the corner of my deck. I thought that would surely hold it. Well, a gust of wind came by and virtually picked it up and tossed it again to the ground. I lost ALL my plants this time. All that time and effort lost in a few short moments. This product is a good idea and the seeds come up really quickly indoors, but the plastic cover on it is what made it fall over and the wind to pick it up. I think the manufacturers should have put some holes in the plastic for wind to go through ~ like a banner has. Next year I'll either tie it down with either bungee cord or a heavy rope, cut holes in it myself or just forget the whole thing.

I have this and agree you need some weight near the bottom...mine was blown over in a heavy wind.<br /> I also added the small plastic wire straps that you can buy in the hardware store to each shelf. It really helped firm the frame up.

I ordered one of these at the end of last season and couldn't wait for spring! It took about 10 minutes to set up - so easy and no tools! I haven't moved it outdoors yet as it's still a bit too frigid, but we have each shelf filled with trays of seedlings. Everything is coming up quickly and beautifully. I intend to move it outdoors soon and I am positive that I will remain pleased!

This rack is not sturdy. Very frustrating that after the assembly the bars comes off the rack. I try to fix one and then the other shelves bars comes off. I am afraid that some of my pots will fall out and break. Not worth to buy this item. Maybe other products are better. I should have listen to the other reviews that it is flimsy.

4.0 out of 5 stars A nice little greenhouse for the price, April 23, 2008

Assembly was very easy, and my greenhouse held together just fine during moving it from inside the house to its current home next to the deck. I took others' advice and weighted the bottom shelf with a couple of gallon-sized milk jugs full of water (and heating the water before our 25-degree temp last night kept my plants toasty enough to survive the night just fine). I also stuck a couple of metal stakes through the bottom bars and staked it to the ground, so mine shouldn't tip over even in our often heavy gusts.

My only complaint about this greenhouse is the cover: While the plastic material seems durable, the zippers are of very poor quality. One was already missing its pull tab when I received the greenhouse; the other zipper's tab broke off the first time I used it. Also, there are ties sewn into a few interior seams to tie the cover to the frame as well as a tie sewn in near the top of the front flap for tying up the flap while accessing the interior. These ties are very flimsy and far too short to tie properly. Frankly, I doubt they will hold if enough of a wind gust whips under the cover. I may just sew my own longer, stronger ties into the cover one of these days.

Overall, though, this is a nice, adequate greenhouse for my season-extending needs.

Very lightweight but very versatile. can be pot together in a variety of ways for added versatility. Added a few wooden dowels to improve the stability and it is just perfect!
