The funniest indictment of the newspaper industry you'll ever read,
This review is from: Rumor Has It (Hardcover)
Essentially, "Rumor Has It" is the story of a imploding newspaper on the verge of anarchy. Dickinson seems to have a great wealth of knowledge on the inner workings of the news business, down to job titles and reporter lingo. The real strengths of the novel are the characters, from the boss who plans his day on sticky notes, the traitorous reporters who are nearly mobbed in the newsroom, and the protagonist, Danny Fain, who remains sympathetic despite making some very poor choices. Often times it is extremely funny, even absurd, and I can't remember reading through a book quite as fast before, wanting to know what happens next.

Excellent newspaper novel,

This book was great, one of Dickinson's best, and I've read them all (course the Widows' Adventure ranks up there, too!!). Very unusual book in that it has no chapters, just starts on page one and zips all the way through to the end. A fun, thought-provoking, unique excellent work.
