Book Description

***A New Adult Contemporary Romance***

“Rumor Has It is quite possibly one of the best New Adult debuts I’ve read–ever. I loved every hip-hop minute of it and can’t wait to read the rest of the series! I devoured it, from laugh out loud funny moments to hot Mason scenes, I was begging for more by the time I finished reading. I can’t wait to see what more this talented author has up her sleeve.”–Rachel Van Dyken, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author

“Sexy and sweet, Mason and Ellie are a couple you want to root for.”–Monica Murphy, NYT & USA Today Bestselling Author

All publicity is good publicity, right? Unless you’re recent college grad Ellie Wagner and an embarrassing video of you and your boyfriend goes viral. Every man in your life abandons you, but who knew a one-minute clip of your latest doomed relationship would brand you a slut, prevent you from getting your perfect job, and force you to keep doing the one thing you swore you’d never do again…live with your mother.

But staying with mom and her latest boy-toy (is this husband number four or five?) until your life turns around might not be all bad. Especially when you fall – literally – at the feet of a sexy, green-eyed stranger who offers you freedom and a life of luxury on a gold-rimmed platter.

There’s only one little problem – the man of your dreams is none other than Mason Nash, the latest hip-hop star busting up the music charts. Fame and fortune are his calling cards and he’s vying to steal the show on a new reality TV series that will catapult him into mainstream stardom. Hello spotlight.
The man behind the famous persona is perfect for Ellie in every way, but can she overcome the ugly pitfalls that come with Mason's celebrity status? Or will she be forced to choose between the man she loves and the independent life she longs for?

After all, fame and fortune aren’t always what they seem and not all publicity is good publicity…

One-click now to see how Ellie and Mason navigate life in the limelight!

***Due to mature sexual content and strong language this novel is intended for those readers 18+***

Editorial Reviews

Review

"This story was light-hearted but surprisingly multi-layered, funny but scrumptiously sexy, showing us that sometimes the most addictive books come to us when you least expect them. Under a bubbly veil of upbeat dialogues and palpable chemistry between the characters, lies a charming tale of finding what counts the most in life and fighting to keep it. This book was the perfect balance of humor, drama, sizzle and romance, all nicely wrapped up into an entertaining story that I was unable to put down."
- Natasha Is A Book Junkie

"Mason Nash melted me in this book. I loved, loved, loved this story. I haven't read one like it. Rapper meets hometown girl. It's original, I enjoyed Elisabeth's writing. It's a re-read. Yep!!"
- Schmexy Girl Book Blog

"I was completely blown away by this story and finished it in one sitting. I am shocked that this is the author's debut book. I really love the way this author writes; I enjoyed the dual POV, the sex scenes were INSANE, and she literally made me laugh out loud."
- Three Girls And A Book Obsession

A "rock star romance" with a unique plot, this book had me hooked from page one, though it's the end of the first chapter where I was laughing out loud. The pacing was perfect and I would have read it in one sitting if I could have...darn life kept getting in the way! I loved the author's style of writing and thought that the dual point-of-view was particularly effective in this story. All that being said it was the characters that really shined in this story. Not only did I love the way they stayed true to who they were and what they wanted throughout the entire book, but the dialogue between them was fantastic."

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it December 27, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Wow. This book had everything including a non cliffhanger ending. I liked Ellie as the female lead, she was independent and actually real, not wishy washy and making assumptions all the time. I've read a few books where I just want to strangle the heroine and tell her to just shut up and listen to Christ's sake. I loved Mason, I wasn't sure how I was going to picture a white rapper but who I kept picturing while reading this book was Macklemore and that made everything okay. Mason was sweet funny and was a man whore before we got to know him in this book but I'm glad the story didn't go on and on about his male whoriness.
Overall the story was great, I couldn't put it down. I would definitely read the next book by this author. Again I reiterate that this story didn't have a cliffhanger like so many books now a days have which was refreshing. Read it you'll like it!

3.5 Stars
Mason and Ellie's romance starts when Ellie literally falls into the bathroom at the beach house he's renting from her employer's real estate agency. Mason is a hip hop star; Ellie a recent college graduate looking for a job in her field. They both feel an instant attraction and it goes from there.

Mason and Ellie are a cute compatible pair despite coming from different lifestyles. They are both down-to-earth likable characters who see each other for who they truly are, not the media's persona, so you root for them to make it work, although they don't ooze chemistry. The love scenes that were there were okay in the beginning, but as the book progressed they were reduced to far too many "fade to" scenes or it already happened/brushed over scenes. Overall, you felt that the couple connected and were dedicated to each other which is always nice, but steamy hook ups were more of a vague mention rather than detailed.

Alternating 1st person POV, which I enjoy; however it would have been nice if the person "talking" would have been identified for that section because it wasn't always every other one, and sometimes you had to be a few lines into that chapter or section to know who was telling it.

On thing that really bugged me: Ellie has the repeated problem of being tagged in unflattering videos and photos on Facebook. She's supposed to have a degree in social media/communications and yet she doesn't know how to change her privacy settings so people can't tag her without her permission??? Come on!

Spoilerish: The story/plot was decent, and it was nice that for once in a romance story they weren't trying to be split up by an ex-love or wannabe love. Their drama comes more from the power of the media and the demands of his career. HEA with a second book on one of the supporting characters to come.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Fun & Steamy New Adult Contemporary Romance! February 17, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
'Rumor Has It' is a New Adult contemporary romance that follows lead characters Ellie Wagner and Mason Nash as their two very different lives collide and their worlds are turned completely upside down. Ellie has just graduated college when an embarrassing video of her and her ex goes up on the Internet - which basically ruins her life by preventing her from getting a good job and being seen as a slut. That's how Ellie finds herself moving back in with her mom and her latest husband and wondering how her life went so wrong. Enter Mason Nash - the newest hip hop music star who's rolling in money and fame. What will happen when Ellie's dream guy is always in the spotlight - the last place she wants to be?

This was a fun and steamy New Adult romance with deeper issues mixed into the story. Ellie is a great leading lady for the book. She's smart and determined, but she's also incredibly flawed - which I think makes her all the more realistic and easy to relate to. She makes a stupid mistake (the video with her boyfriend) which then takes on a life of its own and puts her in some bad positions. We've all been in a situation like that before, which made me love Ellie all the more. Mason is the standard man candy of the story - gorgeous, rich, famous, etc. But underneath his public persona is a completely different guy - one who is sweet, kind, and romantic. I liked that the author put two sides to Mason's character, because most people do the same thing in life - even if they aren't famous. We all wear masks in front of others to hide things about ourselves, which made me like Mason more along with giving the story an added depth.

Ellie is a recent college graduate that is working at a real estate agency until she can find a 'real job'. Due to unfortunate circumstances, she meets (in an awkward way) hip hop artist, Mason.
Mason is young, 23, and sexy, talented and is interested in Ellie right away.
Ellie is a pretty, sometimes confident, young woman, at a young age of 21.

This book had a lot of potential. But the execution fell really flat for me. Ellie is supposed to be confident, smart and kind. Yes, she is thrown into a situation with a woman's shelter that is supposed to make you feel like she is super compassionate and engaging, but just describing it doesn't work for me. I love to 'see it' in action, hear the actual conversations that show how compassionate she is.
She meets Mason's younger sibs, but hardly engages with them. I expected her to be rolling around the floor with them, making up stories, making them laugh, etc. But I didn't see any of that. yet at the end of the visit, the kids are hugging her and feeling super comfortable with her?
Also, Mason says that he is falling for her so hard because of some her great qualities, but again, the author describes this, but I didn't read it 'in action'. Didn't really see her great characteristics in action, didn't hear the conversations b/w Mason and Ellie that would attract each other.
The characters seemed to have little depth, and minimal development. Just didn't feel engaged with either one of them.

Mason is working so hard to make their relationships work - that SHE is the one - then at the end, he completely flips out.
Ellie is constantly doubting herself. Yes, Mason is gorgeous, famous, and used to date models. But she seems to doubt herself all the time.

More About the Author

Welcome! I'm Elisabeth Grace, or El if you prefer, and I write New Adult & Erotic Contemporary Romance.

I'd been an avid reader my entire life, but when I discovered romance novels during my first pregnancy I was hooked! Not sure if it was the hormones or the lack of a life that was headed my way once my daughter was born, but since then I've been devouring several romance books a week. I love nothing more than reading about some serious alpha males and a happily ever after.

Things you should know about me...

I live outside Toronto, Canada...eh. (Yes, it's true. We Canadians say 'eh' A LOT.)

I'm a wife and mommy to two small children which I refer to as Little Miss and Mr. Magoo.

I own one cat spawned by the devil. Seriously. He's as cute as they come but you've never met a meaner feline. In retrospect we should have named him, Lucifer. I have the scars to prove it.

I believe there's no such thing as too much chocolate. Or popcorn. Or bread. Or potatoes. Yes, you guessed it...I'm a sugar and carb addict.

I hate running. Always have, always will. Unless David Gandy's in the vicinity you won't find me doing it. Ever. Not sure who David Gandy is and think you might want to become a Gandy Girl like me? Google him. You can thank me later.

I'm a LOVER of all music. The 1200+ songs on my IPod can attest to the variety of my musical tastes. Hubby and I try to travel to a different music festival every year and are regular concert goers.

My name is Elisabeth and I like reality TV. There I admitted it and that's the first step, right? Yes, I'm a writer and I see the need for scripted shows, but sometimes there's just something so entertaining about watching one Real Housewife lose it on another one. I could listen to Cochran's diatribe on his fellow castaways for hours.

Of the four of us that make up my family, three of us are Leo's. Let's say it together...DRAMA!

I may be the world's worst cook. My poor children. Unless Daddy's cooking they know not to expect much.

I write every night after my kids are in bed until the wee hours of the morning. This wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that I have always been an early-bird-catches-the-worm kind-of girl, so 5:00am comes early. Sleep is over-rated, I say.

If you are a lover of romance novels, steamy bedroom scenes and alpha males than you may enjoy my stories! :)

I LOVE talking with fellow readers about books! There's nothing better than discovering your next favorite read because someone recommended it to you! If you're the same I'd encourage you to reach out to me via one of my social media links so we can chat!

Happy Reading!

Best,
El
