1.0 out of 5 stars OH, I WOULD SAY IT WAS HER WORST!!!
Reba went wild with her oversinging on this one and the results were the worst she's ever done. I can't imagine anything being so bad. A lot of her later albums at least contained material that made up for her "caterwauling multi-phrasing of notes" but the material here is so bad (mostly wordy songs with bad melodies) that I guess she just had to overcompensate by...

5.0 out of 5 stars One of Reba's best, June 12, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Rumor Has It (Audio CD)
Reba's vocals on this album outshine any other. 'Climb that Mountain High' (inspired by the movie 'Tremors' which Reba co-starred in) is great. My absolute favorites from the album are 'Rumour has it' and 'You Lie'. It is said that it took two singers to reach the vocal heights that Reba did in making this song. 'Waitin' for the Deal to go down' is an upbeat, catchy song about a woman waiting to get an engagement ring from someone who is not about to go that far ! 'You Remember Me' is a sad song about a break up. A break up is a hard thing to handle, but Reba's voice seems to be saying that she knows all about it. Another unforgettable song is 'Fancy' a song about a young girl abandoned by her mother into a life of prostitution, but the girl makes the best of it and turns her life around. Along with 'This Picture' (a song about breaking up and ridding the house of all photos); 'Now you tell me (now that there's somebody new)' about a lover who comes back just as she's settling into a new life and 'Fallin' out of love' a song about starting over; this makes it the most played album in my collection.

For any country fan it is a must !!!

5.0 out of 5 stars "Rumor Has It" will go down as one of the BEST!, September 30, 2005
This review is from: Rumor Has It (Audio CD)
This CD is loaded with amazing songs that ONLY REBA could sing! She belts out ballads like "You Lie" and "Falling Out Of Love" each hiting the #1 mark! Reba also tears open the heart on the title track "Rumor Has It"! Let's not forget her signature song, "Fancy" is one of the most recognizable songs in music! With this CD, Reba proves she can do it all! She even co-wrote the album opener "Climb That Mountain High" It's no wonder the album has sold over 3 million copies, it's a masterpiece!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best of all time!!, August 17, 2005
This review is from: Rumor Has It (Audio CD)
Reba does an excellent job on this album. My favorite, of course, is Bobbie Gentry's Fancy. Reba does an excellent job of portraying "Fancy." Like all of her albums, Reba has songs on here that will both rip your heart out and then make you smile with wonderful memories. Many people do not like her music of the 90s because it isn't "country" enough. If you are a true Reba McEntire fan, you will appreciate whatever she sings. She has a unique style that no one has been able to imitate thus far. The Rumor Has It album is a MUST for any Reba fan. She has and continues to do very well with her God-given talents. Thanks for blessing us with those gifts Reba McEntire!

5.0 out of 5 stars A high quality album, March 27, 2004
This review is from: Rumor Has It (Audio CD)
The style of this album moves further away from traditional country than Reba had gone before, but it was very successful commercially. The nineties proved to be very successful for Reba and this 1990 album set the pattern for those that followed.

This album has many excellent songs, particularly the two number one country hits - the title track (a song questioning a man's faithfulness) and You lie (in the man is definitely unfaithful). The third single, a cover of Fancy, also made the country top ten. Bobbie Gentry wrote and originally recorded Fancy, a song about a girl forced into prostitution by poverty but who eventually made good.

The album opens with Climb that mountain high, an inspirational song, but most of the songs here deal with relationship difficulties. Now you tell me (about a man's desire to return to an ex-partner) and This picture (about a woman who destroys all the physical pictures of a man but can't get his picture out of her mind) are the most interesting to me.

This is a high quality album, as I expect from Reba.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!, November 27, 2002

Wow. What can I say? I bought this CD for the obvious - Fancy & You Lie. But WoW when I listened to this CD all the way through I saw what I had been missing, or more correctly what country radio listeners had been missing. I wish that more than just 3 songs could have had the radio play that they deserved. My favorite songs on this album have to be: Climb that mountain High, Rumor Has it, Waitin' for the deal to go down, You Lie, Now You Tell me, Fancy, & This Picture. There is not a bad song on this album. I think that this is one of Reba's best 90's CD's.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very mature outing, May 17, 2001

Rumor Has It had been certified selling 3 million on 03/24/99. What can I say I love this CD. This is the first CD I bought of Reba's after having seen the video Fancy in 1993. Fancy was the first song I played then I skipped to You Lie and loved that song even more. I took a listen to the rest and started buying every CD out there.

I am a 15-M-New Jersey and my favorite singer is Reba McEntire. On this cd, Rumor Has It, Reba McEntire really makes you feel the emotion and the anger in her songs. Every song on this cd is an excellent song. The stand out tracks are Fancy, Climb That Mountain High, Rumor Has It, You Lie, and That's All She Wrote. If you want great quality music from a great quality artist I recommend you get Rumor Has It by Reba McEntire.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reba...Nuff Said!, January 17, 2001
This review is from: Rumor Has It (Audio CD)
A terrific album from the Diva of Country, Reba. This album has her trademark style of powerful upbeat songs as well as heartfelt ballads, which have a real story to them. She does a wonderful cover of Bobbie Gentry's "Fancy", better than the original, I think! Reba has one of the best voices in country, instantly recognizable. This 1990 album should be in any Reba fans collection., and the booklet contains all the lyrics.
