This is what a great record is about!,

This review is from: Do the Rump! (Audio CD)
Kimbrough is tremendous pioneer in the North Mississippi sound and also a veteran bluesman up until his death in the late 90's. Do The Rump is a great record that captures the raw and drone feel of his music. This album is addictive (You listen to it once and you will be humming the songs), all the cuts are purely original (Most were written by Junior). They are I believe a shift to a more primal feel to the blues, one which hasn't been around for quite a long time. This record is a milestone in blues music, and deserves to be in your CD collection........BUY IT!

Simply the Best,

It's a short review: this is simply the best blues I've ever heard. I immediately lament the passing of such an amazing artist and such an amazing sound. Buy it, play it, share it.

This Cd is the Best Junior Kimbrough record;even though I love "All Night Long" and "Sad Days,Lonely Nights" the sound of this record is pure Hill Country Mississippi blues and has the deepest groove I have ever heard. This CD rivals R. L. Burnside's "Too Bad Jim" as the classic recording of Hill Country Blues.

If You Ever Needed Proof That Blues is the Root of All Music,

This is the proof you are looking for. I realize that Junior Kimbrough was not one of the original blues men (well at least not at his comercal peak) but this music is a predacessor to so many other kinds of music. The roots of punk is right here. Actually, I checked out Junior Kimbrough after I heard Iggy Pop cite him as a major influence. This album is a work of art. In fact this is my favorite album from Kimbrough but that is like listing your favorite Beatles album: you may favor one more than the others but they are all really good. You will not be disappointed with any Junior Kimbrough album you buy. If you like Kimbrough you should also check out the Black Keys' album Chulahoma (it is a cover album of Kimbrough's work and they may be the only band that could do him justice). Just as a side note if it interests you, all his albums are on itunes for between seven and ten dollars each.
