Rumpole's Back,
By A Customer
This review is from: Rumpole of the Bailey: Rumpole's Return [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This Rumpole is a longer tha the episoses of Rumpole. It is a wonderful story that has Rumpole at his best in the Courtroom. Leo McKern is Rumpole. From the cigars to the poerty quoting it is hard to imagine anyone else as Rumpole. The story proceeds at a good pace. The acting is very good with McKern and the actor who plays the criminal defendant taking top honors

This review is from: Rumpole of the Bailey: Rumpole's Return [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Horace Rumpole, that old workhorse of the Bailey, has lost his confidence and retired from the law to the warm and sunny Maimi, Florida. But, when a young professor that Rumpole met disappears, and then a young London accountant is arrested for a grisly murder, he realizes that he must return to the courts and the battles he so loves. Things have changed, though, and not everyone wants Rumpole back, but there is a mystery to solve, and justice to be seen to!Leo McKern was the perfect Rumpole, really bringing the character to life. And, the character, ably written by retired barrister John Mortimer QC, is wonderful. Rumpole uses wit and eloquence to defend his clients, and his quirky character is certain to entertain. If you like a good British mystery or drama, then you will love this movie. |
