5.0 out of 5 stars How I enjoyed her latest release..., July 5, 2007
This review is from: Run Cold (Audio CD)
First, I dusted off the Black, "67" Lincoln Covertable, carefully retracking the the top to expose the cold, hard leather to the last rays of a setting sun. After I dressed in the appropriate attire, I cruised south to the ramp that would take me the Mojave Desert. I started with something soft by Kraftwerk, Enya, and Tangerine Dream. As I cleared the pass, I decended to the desert floor, to a town that was dying, cut off by the new highway. Cold, hungry, I made my way to the remnants of a truck stop that will not be there next time I pass... I headed back onto the highway, With "Run Cold" now filling the void, speed increasing, the beat dicating this new frame of mind... I let it play 2 more times, then continued in silance. Soon I glided into the driveway, to quietly go inside and take my place under the covers next to the one who never knew I was gone, or cared. But tonight, I did not feel like I was alone. Thank you Diva, thank you.

Her 3rd release fits perfectly between the previous. The power and passion that is Diva Destruction continues, only letting up mercifully on the track " Safe with me " ( And also my favorite ), allowing you a much needed breath, before stepping it up one last with "Resolution". Upon its conclusion, now is the time to play "Heathcliff" (from her 2nd release,"Exposing the Sickness"), to kick your night into overdrive.

While it is well known that Debra Fogarty wrote/played and did the vast majority of work on her first two CD's, this is purely a solo effort from someone who knows what it is all about. No gimicks, no over distorted guitar solo's, just pure techo/goth with the voice of sadistic angel, one moment so sweet and beautiful, the next, cruel, but always leaving you wanting more...

I will be looking for the fourth.

To the reviewer, "SpaceRaven":

To old to be Goth? There is no such thing as To Old,Fat,Ugly, you know the cliche's. Goth is a state of mind, a feeling within. You either are, or you are not. We who prefer the shadows are the voyeurs and the creators, and we embrace both sides of life. To often I would shake my head as I watched the weekend "Crypt Kiddies" try to out freak each other, now I am just amused. If you can not get past the dark attire, Ann Rice novels, or picnics at Forest Lawn, (your one stop funeral shop), then you will never understand. In closing, someone once said, "Never let the [...] beat you down... unless you like that sort of thing." So, Be well, Be happy and most importantly, Be yourself.

2.0 out of 5 stars THE CHILD DEVIANT, November 30, 2006

Ok, let's say some nice things first. Debra fogarty (singer/synth-player/creator/and primary studio engineer of Diva Destruction) is uber sexy, and Diva Destruction are a good live act. Nevertheless, the music on this album is cheap, under-produced, and kinda repetitive. I'm not trying to hurt this artist, but at this point, ....Diva Destruction have become a dissapointment. The best record this band has released is thier debut album Passion's Price...the following two albums (including Run Cold) since are mostly just fluff. As much as I want to praise this artist (because I am head over heals for the singer)...in the end...it mostly just sucks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Safe with me, October 4, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Run Cold (Audio CD)
Diva Destruction is easily my favorite modern goth band. I have been a fan for several years now. Four years after the release of her last cd, Diva Destruction (aka Debra Fogarty) returns with "Run Cold". I was not disappointed with "Run Cold". "Run Cold" clocks in just under fifty minutes which is fine with me. "Run Cold" begins with the excellent title track which has a killer dance groove. The song almost reminded me of "The Broken One" from DD's first album "Passion's Price".The same can be said about "Rewriting History" but it sounds more like "Enslaved" (also found on "Passion's Price"). What I have noticed about "Run Cold" is that the overall sound is a more electronic sound unlike its predecessors which had a more guitar orientated sound. Another aspect of the cd I love is the eerie and sinister sounds. "Electric Air" has such a terrific foreboding sound that would sound perfect in a horror film. I found it really hard to pick a favorite song off "Run Cold". All of the songs are great. The production is immaculate. You can hear Debra's vocals clearly. The four years was clearly well worth the wait for "Run Cold" for this Diva Destruction fan.
