Horrific and tragically suspenseful,
By A Customer
This review is from: Run Jane Run (Paperback)
After reading this book, its hard to believe that our Judiciary Courts let the convicts actual get away with murder. Jane Wells has really captured how the Social Services are unable to help people that are on the borderline or are in desperate need of help. After seeing her on the Montel Show, she had sparked my interest in her book. I not only cringed but cried when she and her daughters had to face such unnecessary barriers that were put by the system. I pray and hope to God that she is able to stay undercover from her ex-husband and that the children, especially the oldest can have a peaceful life and never have to suffer the torment and abuse that had been suffered by them all. My prayers are with Jane Wells and family. God Bless....

A Battered Wife Tells All!,
This review is from: Run Jane Run: A Survivor's Harrowing Story (Mass Market Paperback)
Jane's second marriage to Michael went from a dream to a nightmare during her short time with him. Worse, she was pregnant and the Kentucky laws states that a pregnant wife can't leave her husband despite Michael's horrific abuse and the accounts told here. The book reveals a terrifying side as the woman, Jane, must stand alone to defend herself and her two daughters against an abusive, monstrous ex-husband who tortured her not only physically and psychologically as well. He couldn't let her go. She was a piece of property rather than a human being. Jane's escape from her hellish marriage wasn't easy and the cost was deadly. Despite the fact that Michael was clearly dangerous, authorities allowed him to be free causing more harm, grief, and a surprising murder. For Jane and her girls, they must live with the memories of Michael's reign of terror and the loss of Johnny who tried to protect them. Even in this day and age, Jane couldn't divorce her husband because she was pregnant and being abused. I hope the Kentucky laws have changed since then with this case.

The truth,
By A Customer
This review is from: Run Jane Run (Paperback)
After reading this book, it amazes me what some people have to go through during their lifetime. The fact that Jane even survived is relieving. Reading her book made me feel as though I wish I could have been her friend at that time and helped her through all the tough stuff she was dealing with. On another note, imagine what poor Erica and Megan had to go through! If my dad were to die, I would freak, but if I were only six and were to see it happen I don't know how I would ever get over it. I am happy though, that I met Jane personally and she seems like a very cheerful person and made me happier that day. I think everyone should read this book to let them know that what they are going through could be worse.

We read this book for an abnormal psychology class I am currently taking that is specifically focused on trauma. The first part of the class is about PTSD and interpersonal violence, and this book is a fantastic (yet sad) example of domestic violence. It's a true story about Jane. She is a mother of two involved in a very violent relationship with her [almost] ex-husband, Michael, who will not leave her and her two daughters alone, even after they move away from him. This book will make you cry, grow angry, and will have you cheering for Jane and her girls the whole way through. Who knew that the judicial system was so messed up and seemingly favorable toward a violent, murderous, criminal? I certainly did not until I read this book. It's definitely a must-read!

Not the best writing,
This review is from: Run Jane Run (Paperback)
I am not saying this was not a good book. The story was thrilling and I kept having to remind myself that this was a true story and not fiction. However, it was horribly written. It jumped around a lot from one page to another and I had to keep turning back to make sure I did not skip something. There were times in the book where she would describe something the cops brought up that she had mentioned to them but she never mentioned the events to the reader or she would just skip days, weeks, or months and not even give a basic breakdown of what happened or even alert the reader that time had elapsed. After reading the epilogue and afterward all I heard was her go "me, me, me" and wanted her to shut up. I get that she went thorough something awful and pulled herself out of it but someone else should have written her story. I am glad I only paid $1 for this book and actually bought it intending to give to a friend so it will not waste space on my bookshelf.
