Run To Me is a departure from the first two books in the trilogy. The first two deal with an organization committed to thwart kidnappings of women and children. That outfit, Last Chance Recovery, has a terrific track record of bringing back kidnapped kids after every other option has failed. At one time, Ethan and Shea they were top operatives in LCR.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Bookmarks from Wild on Books!, June 23, 2009
Shea Monroe has been missing from her job at Last Chance Rescue for six months. An agent with the ability to negotiate, Shea's presence has been missed but since her husband just died, the men and women who know her think she is just grieving - until they are given information and video proof of her aiding with a kidnapping. Fearing the worst, that she has gone rogue, LCR's director knows of only one person he can trust to find her and get her out of the situation she is in - her former lover, and the man who broke her heart, Ethan Bishop.

Ethan Bishop deliberately let Shea Monroe go and when she married his best friend, he figured he got what he deserved. Deep down inside he knows that he is not worthy of someone like Shea but telling his heart is another matter. When one of LCR's operatives shows up on his mountain with a mission for him, Ethan's first instinct is to refuse - that is, until he finds out that Shea is missing and evidently now working for the enemy. Knowing that there is no way his Shea would turn and deliberately harm another human being, Ethan agrees to find and bring Shea home. He has no idea the woman he finds will be nothing like the woman he remembers.

Three times the charm with Christy Reece's RUN TO ME. If you thought the first two books, RETURN TO ME and RESCUE ME were awesome, then run, don't walk, and grab RUN TO ME right this minute!

Ethan Bishop is his own worst enemy. For things that happened in his past, he has spent over fifteen years doubting his own worth. Shea is the only bright light in his life and because of feelings of inadequacy; he did his best to make her hate him. And he thought it worked. However, his feelings never changed and unbeknownst to him, Shea's didn't either. His rescue of Shea was perilous and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time never knowing if they would be caught or not. Watching Shea's feelings return and seeing Ethan's heart break over and over took me on an emotional roller coaster I didn't want to end.

RUN TO ME affected me in many ways - most of all it reminded me of how strong the human spirit is. Love is the greatest gift two people can experience and Shea's love for Ethan remained the catalyst of this remarkable romantic suspense. I am praying that this isn't the last we will see of these remarkable men and women of Last Chance Rescue!

5.0 out of 5 stars Running on empty after racing through Last Chance Trilogy!, June 4, 2010
This review is from: Run to Me: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
I'm definitely addicted to Christy Reece's Last Chance Rescue series. In the third installment of the series, we find operative Shea Monroe has seemingly "gone bad"... meaning, she's turned traitor and joined the dark side. Operative Ethan Bishop has a job to do- go in and collect Shea and return her to Last Chance for either questioning or rescue.

Fortunately, the rescue is fairly easy and happens within mere chapters. However, nothing else in this book is easy. Not to read and certainly not for the characters. Shea has been dosed with a highly dangerous cocktail of drugs that have completely erased her memory and turned her into, basically, a trainable zombie that will do anything for her "master"-- one of the creepiest villains I have EVER had the pleasure to read about. (This guy pretty much tops the cake in fantasy bad guy world.)

Shea and Ethan have a long road in front of them - not only a horrendous bad guy to take down but also a myriad of obstacles in front of them to overcome. Not only is Shea's healing and re-learning process grueling (especially emotionally) but the bag guys are in rough and persistent pursuit. The anxiety and tension is high in this gripping page turner. The plot is a bit out-of-this-world and fantastical, but I dare you to convince me NOT to lose myself in this amazing, invented plot.

Aside from all that, you get to follow the tender and difficult (and may I say twisted and complex) love between the main characters. Actually, make that a love triangle, as it includes a third character, Cole. Ethan is an amazing alpha-hero... but I must say he frustrated me thoroughly. I still fell in love with him though... how can you not?!

The layers are numerous and ready to peel. I suggest you get started!

5.0 out of 5 stars Full Speed Action Angst & Falling in Love, June 2, 2011

This review is from: Run to Me: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
"Run to Me" starts out of the gate at full speed with bombs, bullets, knives, really bad guys set on committing unspeakable heinous crimes all surrounding the main characters who are desperately trying to forgive themselves and find their way back to love. It is a gritty dark and wonderful novel.

The story surrounds an agent who went undercover to seek vengeance on the evil man who murdered her husband. She was captured and robbed of her memories with drugs. She is rescued by an ex-lover who wrestles with the guilt that he was the cause of her husband's destruction.

I went out and bought the others in the series before I finished this one. It's that good. Reece is now on my list of favorite authors. If you like Cindy Gerrard or the Kiss to Kill series by Bruhns or the KGI series by Maya Banks then Christy Reece is for you. This can also be a stand alone book, so don't hesitate to buy it. You'll be glad you spent the money and time to enter the LCR world.

This book had me writing to the author begging for another book! The mystery had me pulling my feet up in my chair and breaking my heart at the next turn. This book had me falling inlove with the characters(even minor ones!). I am so glad Christy Reece chose to follow her dream because writing was so much her calling.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cant help but love these books!, November 20, 2010

This review is from: Run to Me: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
I loved how the story of these characters start out. It pulls you in right from the start and the intensity stays at a high through the whole book. As usual, I just could not seem to put this one down. The author make the story very easy to read and really sets you up for the next book at the end.

4.0 out of 5 stars OK, I love the LCR books but..., September 6, 2010

After her husband is killed in an op gone bad Shea Monroe goes undercover to find the man who was responsbile. She ends up drugged and basically a puppet for the killer. Ethan Bishop who has always loved Shea but let her go is determined to do all he can to rescue her.

The problems I had were small but rather annoying:
1. This book was not about human trafficking, as it said on the back cover, but kidnapping for hire.
2. "Marched and "stalked" were way overused. "He marched over and laid her on the bed." And then there was "stomped", my eight year old neice does this when having a trantrum!
3. The women in this series seem to end up tied and/or gagged, usually by the good guys.
4. And the women are always being carried, more than most two year olds.

But I'm on to the next trilogy of the series and can't wait!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Read, August 5, 2009
This review is from: Run to Me: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
The story is fast paced and exciting with some very interesting main as well as secondary characters.
It's not really necessary to read the first two books in this series, which I didn't.
But I probably should have just so I could learn a little more about all of the characters.
The story-line is at times a little dark and disturbing, the main characters have undergone some truly disturbing
and horrific torture. So for me it was a little too dark. I prefer things just a little lighter but with that being
said, I did go ahead and order the first two books in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars terrific thriller, June 25, 2009
This review is from: Run to Me: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
Filled with guilt Ethan Bishop quit Last Chance Rescue (LCR) when an operation he led left teammate Cole Mathison dead. However, when Noah McCall, head of the private international LCR, tells Ethan that he needs him on a special mission that he trusts only Bishop to perform, he agrees to return for one last assignment. Evidence supports that Cole's widow, Shea Monroe has joined the enemy.

Infamous felon Donald Rosemount had Shea abducted. He gave her a drug mix that erases a person's memory and personality traits sort of like an etch-o-sketch. Now the martinet master is ordering her to carry out his projects. Ethan recaptures the woman he cherishes, but fears Shea will never be the same; still his love for her demands he not quit on her.

The exciting third LCR romantic suspense (see RETURN TO ME and RESCUE ME) is even darker and grittier than the previous two entries, which is saying a lot as the lead characters in all three "me" tales have had horrific experiences. The story line is owned by Shea, a victim of total control that goes beyond brainwashing into a frightening zombie like obedience. Whereas she is unique, Ethan is similar in outlook as for instance Noah is; which makes the tale even stronger as he is passionate about his feelings of remorse re Cole, love for Shea, and a craving to destroy Ethan for what he did to his beloved. Another terrific thriller that fans will relish.

4.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 stars for Run to Me, July 9, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The book starts out with Shea being injected with a drug that erases her memory . . . that is just plain terrifying! Without our memories we are stripped of everything, we have no identity, no focus, no purpose. If you woke up tomorrow and no memories of your life, what would you do? Although this concept alone would have kept me engaged in the book, the other aspects of the book held interest as well.
Ethan and Shea had to work through a lot of issues besides memory loss (past relationship between each other and others, stubbornness, guilt) and their interpersonal dynamic was engaging. The author has a knack for taking emotionally scared people and putting them on the path of redemption that is both believable and exciting.
Great series, great book.
This book is best read after reading the first two in the series.
