Maybe the interest in Grime has petered out, maybe this disc is only for the hardcore. I don't know, but this compilation deserves a review, a mention or something, if not only for the skill the MCs display over fast beats. I picked this up a few months after picking up Vol. 1. This volume is almost completely different from the first.
Stand out tracks: Get Set: I love this song, it's a great first track. It almost sounds American. I love the energy. Serious (JME): Life as an MC. Up Your Speed (Remix): I love Bruza, he's like a British Busta Rhymes. This could easily be a Dip-Set song. Sick 2 Def (Plan B): This is easily the best track on the whole CD. I never heard of this guy. He's very comparable to Eminem, but he isn't as silly. This track is HARD. Can't You See (Klashnekoff): This song has the most crossover appeal. Klashnekoff rhymes slow and it's easy to understand what he's saying. So this doesn't have as many standout tracks as the first Volume, but it shows how dynamic Grime is. Definitely a must buy if you're interested in Grime. |
