5.0 out of 5 stars Holy Contention Batman!
Ok kids, lets play nice for once.

And while you're at it...please do us all a favor a double check your reviews for grammatical/spelling errors...

anyway, this is a great CD.

Yes, similar to Leftover Crack. And no, not in a bad way.

I don't know about anyone else, but I LOVE Leftover Crack, and so to find a good band...

1.0 out of 5 stars Hey, lets make a total rip off of leftover crack
Is this a rip off or what? This guys really want to be leftover crack, not to mention that whenever they play shows with them Chris (the lead singer) is all over the Stza's nuts, its pathetic. The band has potential, but they need to play their own style of music, not just rip off other bands that they like. In conclusion, this is the biggest Leftover Crack/Choking Victim...

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Addition to The Crack Rock Steady Collection, May 29, 2006
This review is from: Run Your Pockets (Audio CD)
If your a fan of Leftover Crack and Choking Victim you will probably enjoy No Cash as they are similiar bands both musically and ideologically. Thus these bands should be compared. I felt that LoC was a bit smoother and musically a little more refined and polished, I also think LoC was more musically varied, and the vocals were a little less scummy. The other thing is that lyrically LoC was very specific. They didn't attack "The System" or any other vast impersonal evil, they went straight to the root, ie singing about killing cops. At times No Cash is like that but at other points in the album they are very abstract and uses loose terminology and vague ideas. Most of the songs on here are good, a few excellent (Wiks-Booth Style, Knowledge is Power) and the there is Gasoline which is incredible. All in all very good but not quite as good as LoC.

I don't know about anyone else, but I LOVE Leftover Crack, and so to find a good band that has a similar style is a good thing. Gives my poor Mediocre Generica a respite from the CD player.

this cd is the best ive listend to since LOC came out with "mediocre Generica". This cd has such real lyrics that get ta ya later in life, if you dont already have a perspective on life now. Everyone in the band sings and theres so much yelling with edgy/thrashy vocals its enought to make ya scream yerslef. Man this cd blows every cd outta tha water.

4.0 out of 5 stars Yeah, yeah, yeah..., December 14, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Run Your Pockets (Audio CD)
The only real problem that I had with this CD is that it's completely derivative. Yeah, everyone has influences, but No Cash could've done this CD without ever having listened to anyone except Choking Victim or Leftover Crack. Everything the former does, the latter two did as well, and often better. There's the hard/soft play, the crustcore singing, the piano breaks, the ska breaks, the occassional rapped verse, the instrumental intro, the quasi-experimental outro, and of course lyrics that circle around social upheaval and personal distress (e.g. kill the cops and kill yourself, respectively).

That said, it's not a complete carbon-copy of anything, and there's still a lot of fun to be had here. "Home Life is a Drag" is strangely catchy despite the pretty mediocre lyrics. I realize I'm being pretty critical here, but this is a good album. Not great, but good. If you're into crack rocksteady, you're into this. If you're not, start with someone like Anti-Flag and slowly work your way into the genre from there, because you really should be into crack rocksteady.

Ya putz.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent CD - You Should Own It, February 7, 2009
This review is from: Run Your Pockets (Audio CD)
No-Cash is my favorite punk band of all time, so buying this was a must for me. It's also an album that every punk should at least have digitally, because love 'em or hate 'em, No-Cash has some interesting music and exceptional lyrics that will appeal to the young punks of today.

The best way to imagine No-Cash's sound is to imagine the speeding power chord onslaught of the Misfits with metal riffing on top of it. There are also ska breakdowns and even ska verses in a few of a songs. The sound is very polished and the lyrics are very well written and attack a variety of oppressive forces, including the church, education and government as well as social issues such as racism, terrorism etc. There's even a song about life at home, since the band was young at the time of this release. Don't let that fool you though - they are great musicians, songwriters and lyricists. Many times a certain powerful line will get stuck in your head - this is an album of songs to live by.

Also, I'm tired of all these whiney kids complaining about how this is a Leftover Crack ripoff. Guess what guys? No-Cash formed before them. If anything, they were influenced by Choking Victim, except this band is slightly more metal oriented and has it's own interesting ideas. Review the album on it's own merits.

Buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Similar to LOC or not, No Cash is astounding, February 4, 2009
This review is from: Run Your Pockets (Audio CD)
Yes, maybe it does run somewhere within the CRSB style, but LOC is distinctly different than No Cash. Besides all that, the musicianship is incredible. It's an awesome album, just buy it and see.

4.0 out of 5 stars more like 3.5, September 29, 2007
This review is from: Run Your Pockets (Audio CD)
Ever since riot ska/punk band Choking Victim rose from the NYC underground in the late 90's, many bands have taken influence and inspiration from them. One of the first to do so, is No Ca$h. Now, there definitely is difference. No Ca$h really is more of a punk band with some ska breakdowns than a ska band like Choking Victim was. But nevertheless, you can totally tell the influence.

That doesn't take away from how good the album is, and it sure is good. After a rather annoying intro, you are thrown into the extreme energy and intensity this band offers. The songs are fast, mid tempo, wild, meaningful, and sometimes, even beautiful. From the screaming into that is Samurais of the Sea, to the emotion closing number, Run Your Pockets, it sure is a ride. There are some very solid punk songs on this album, with my personal favorites being Life Sucks, Knowledge Is Power, Skate or Die, The Lucky Few, Gasoline, and Run Your Pockets. While there are a few songs that are downright terrible (Homelife is a Drag, Pierce the Gates, and Kill 'em All), and a couple others that are just average, as well as the vocalist Chris getting a bit annoying at times, the great songs really save this album. Recommended to anyone who loves fast, raw punk.
