5.0 out of 5 stars Finally!

versus
3.0 out of 5 stars where do i begin?
first: allie, just how many people did you e-mail? :). second, sitting on the fence is very painful. thirdly, in a simple phrase, i would say wilson phillips meets the triplets minus the banality of the corrs.

these four ladies have the voices. they seem to have a knack for melodies. but the lamentable bits are the lyrics (some bordering cheesy), instrumentation...

4.0 out of 5 stars What a great quartet of young refreshing voices, December 12, 1999

I got an e-mail from Allie about a month or two ago, suggesting that I check out their CD. Interested, I decided that I might as well. When I received it in the mail I was blown away by the magic their voices brought to the songs. My favorite, Crisis Line, is sad but touching: the sisters have obviously dealt with ups and downs of life and express this brilliantly and gracefully. The lyrics are touching and there is NO genre of music that can be used to describe 'Run Your Own Race'! Everything I expected, and more.

5.0 out of 5 stars A female band writing their own music!? This is rare!, October 23, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Run Your Own Race (Audio CD)
I just want to say that I was astounded when I listened to this CD. When I saw the cover, I thought it was another manufactured girl group, but then listening to the album and reading the liner notes, I saw that the girls write all of their own songs, and played guitars on the album. Not only this, but their songs are so meaningful and true to life. I can't believe that more people don't know of them! The way their harmonies sound together is breath-taking and powerful at the same time. Voices are great. A pop/rock band like this should get recognition more than those girl bands that just look pretty and bounce around the stage. Radio definitely needs a band like this today.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoughtful album, November 22, 1999

I can tell this album was put together with care. Each song is well-crafted and well thought-out. As a lyricist myself - it's good to see material on the market that is of this caliber. I especially applaud the story-line of Crisis Line. Anyone who has worked on any kind of suicide line or counselling center can identify.

I noticed in the liner notes that they played on the CD and write the songs. Nice to see some real artists out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-buy CD, October 31, 1999

As a 32 year old male whose favorite groups are the Styx and the Eagles, I wasn't expecting to love this CD. But when I put it in my player, I felt good because I didn't think groups made music like this anymore. The lyrics are meaningful, the harmonies are powerful, and there's passion in the songs. It's not stale. I'd recommend this CD to any gender, any age. I think these 10 songs have the power of really effecting your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars this is a cute album, folks, October 22, 1999

I just feel fresh and sing along as listening to it. I really want to see more songs like these; I believe it's love, Just one breath,...these are cute and nice songs that I have been looking for ...a long time. Yeah, the songs have sensational and flowing melodies, real pop-like, the music creatively much exclusive than any other pop bands. I mostly like the female's voices of Mulberry Lane which are so cute to take my breath away... heeheeheehee. I also love the electric sounds and organ playing of these songs. In addition, the lyrics are nice and adorable. This album is a must get for pop music fans. A cute album.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-buy CD; Great writing, phenomenal singing, June 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Run Your Own Race (Audio CD)
If you haven't heard Mulberry Lane yet, you're missing one of the best new groups in years. Every song on this CD was written by Mulberry Lane, and there's not a weak song in the bunch. The best songs on the disc -- "Harmless," "Just One Breath," "I Don't Love You," and "Just Another Friday" -- combine melody and vocal harmony in a way that words can't describe. Even the lyrics are great; the images that the Rizzuto sisters conjure up, especially in "I Don't Know How to Deal" and "The Why," are both original and memorable. If this disc doesn't give you goosebumps or bring tears to your eyes when you first hear it, have your doctor check you for signs of rigor mortis.
