Darryl 'Mouse' Davis, a former 5'8" college
QB perfected what Coach Tiger Ellis learned
from his yr.-and-a-half in the CFL as a play-
er. The four WR set Offence is a dirivative
of the standard CFL 12-man, 4 or 5 WR set,
modified for the 11-man American ffotball
game.

Darryl 'Mouse' Davis first used it in the
NCAA's, Div.-III w/ the Portland St Vikings
with QBs June Jones, III and Neil Lomax later
in the NFL (& CFL). Jones runs this Offence
today with the SMU Mustangs. He also used it
@ my Almer Mater, the University if Hawai'i
Warriors. He amassed 83 wins and five Bowl
victories w/ Hawai'i and has 12 wins and
one Bowl victory with SMU in two yrs., so far.

Great Offence, and hard to defend with standard
Defences. Excellent book. June Jones has sever-
al books with the University of Hawai'i press
that encapsulate this Offence as well. Highly
recommended!

A dynamic balanced attack geared towards a High School team. All the details you need to run a very flexible passing attack. Also, a running game including the option, trap, sweep, and straight ahead dive plays. On top of that the book is highly readable and very entertaining.

I purchased this book to find the roots of the Al Davis, Houston Gambler's offense. For me it meets the contrairian ideas of point of attack unknown until after the snap, and optioning defenders. I thought I would be contrary using the pass first concepts from the Davis Run and Shoot, but there is a very solid run game included in this offense. I believe the run game and throwing on the run will make our play action passing even stronger. Throwing on the run is also a better solution for 12u for both the passer and linemen. As I got into the detail of the gangster series I saw the roots of the "west coast" concept of timed patterns. Ellison details why a throw occurs on a particular step and where the receiver is. I believe you could use this offense verbatim for any 14u team, but I made a few modernizations and refinements for my 12u team. Although I believe the Cowboy Series predates Yoeman's Outside Veer, I will be using the un blocked read defender concept for Cowboy and Mudcat series. In the Wagon series I will be using veer style reach blocks to put a helmet on every playside defender. To keep skill specialization our B back will not be a receiver, just Dive Back, pitch back, Lead blocker or cut #3 (DE). We add the speed option off of Wagon (Jet) fake. The book has been a very valuable tool educating on concepts like; read defender, timing pass patterns to QB steps, using a numbering system to identify which defender the play is ganging up on and who is your blocking assignment, and route adjustments based on defender alignment and response. Truly the root of many "modern" offensive concepts.

If football coaches want to know where the revolution of offensive football started straight from the source, this book is for him. Glenn Tiger Ellison is one, if not the, most innovative coach in football history. It will stun the reader to find out that almost every modern offense directly stems from Glenn Tiger Ellisons original Run and Shoot football book. He invented.

Wide Open Football
Route Conversions
Double Slot, can be called the original "Flexbone"
Flexbone Triple Option "Cowboy on the Run"

The ingenuity and brilliance of this man cannot be understated. He defied the football world by simply observing children playing football. He noticed that they weren't lining up in a power I formation, they were throwing the ball, running routes, and naturally converting their routes to coverage.
Its pretty inspirational to think, this man started a revolution in football because he was in the darkest hours of his coaching career. He simply observed kids playing football and that observation changed the history of football.

Bought this book because my grandson requested it for his birthday. Hard to find. Needless to say he was thrilled.
