5.0 out of 5 stars How romantic!?!? May 12, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase
Whoever wrote this song -- I'm assuming it was Gary Lightbody (lead singer) -- is such a romantic. My favorite lines are:
To think I might not see those eyes
Makes it so hard not to cry
And as we say our long goodbye
I nearly do

I wrote poetry in my younger days and this music has inspired me to revisit that hobby. I could never write anything as beautiful as some of his lyrics, but I'll give it a try.

I should have bought the whole album but I only bought this song and Set the Fire to the Third Bar. Which also rocks may I say!

Fantastic song of love and longing, tempered with pain and sacrifice. There are few examples of a perfect song, but this may be Exhibit A.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just heard this on Episode 23 of Rescue Me January 23, 2013

Awesome, soulful song. Very touching! Saying good bye to friends and family is hard enough, writing a song to bring out feelings one has supressed for so long is a statement!

Always love when this gets shuffled into the playlist. Wish Snow Patrol had more songs like it. Sounds alittle like the Devlins.

Really like this song, its nice, I know there is apparently some Alicia Keys version which I might have liked a little more but this is still a great song!
