5.0 out of 5 stars Runaway Dolls, November 8, 2008
This review is from: The Runaway Dolls (The Doll People) (Hardcover)
I was so pleased with this book, the third of the series. I had read the first book and could not find the second. I tried to hold off but it was too tempting. I bought these books for my granddaughter and was so delighted. I purchased 2 more copies for gifts.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best of the Three, November 2, 2008

This review is from: The Runaway Dolls (The Doll People) (Hardcover)
I was not impressed with the second book as the first and was fearful for the third. I could not have been more wrong. In my opinion, it is the best of the three.

The novel starts out with wonderful illustrations explaining what happened to the "real" sister of Annabelle Doll. The package makes its way back to the Palmer's where adventure ensues. In order to keep Tilly May safe Annabelle runs away with her friend Tiffany. The adventures that follow capture what it would like to be a doll in a very big world.

If you have read the first two The Runaway Dolls is a must read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just as fun as I'd hoped, January 18, 2009

This third book in the series begins with a wonderful premise. A very very old package is found in an old toy store, and an honest person mails the Victorian package as it was addressed. As a result, the baby doll which has been missing for more than 100 years arrives to join the doll family!!!

Once again, the children in the two doll families (one family of antique Victorian dolls and one equally special family of plastic "Funcraft" dolls) show courage and spirit, taking risks that the adult dolls feel are unwise. The girls' heart-versus-head approach gets them in deep trouble, but in the end leads to a truly happy ending. Love and bravery conquer all!

This gorgeously illustrated story will become a beloved family classic. Highly, highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars From a 7 year old book lover, July 27, 2009
This review is from: The Runaway Dolls (The Doll People) (Hardcover)
I really liked reading The Doll People books. They were funny. There were mysteries in it. I didn't want to put it down. When I read the first Doll People book, I couldn't wait to read the next one. When my grandmother took my to buy the second book, we were surprised because there was a third book so we bought it too. The third one was my favorite.

5.0 out of 5 stars CGE Student Review, May 28, 2009
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Runaway Dolls (The Doll People) (Hardcover)
I love The Run Away Dolls by Ann M. Martin! I would rate this book 5 stars!!! The book Run Away Dolls is a fiction book and it's a sequel to The Doll People and The Meanest Doll in the World. This book is about dolls that have to work together to find their way home after they run into the woods and get lost.

The authors writing hooks you to the book and makes you want to keep reading what she wrote.
The main characters are: Tilly, Annabelle, Tiffany, Bobby, Bailey, Mom Funcraft and Dad Funcraft, Mama Doll and Papa Doll, Nora, Kate, Grandma Katherine, Mr. Palmer and Mrs. Palmer. My favorite character is Tiffany.

The information you need to know is that there are talking dolls and they cannot be seen moving or talking by any humans or they will go into Doll State or worse PDS [Permanent Doll State]. This is an important scene from the beginning of the book: there was a package delivered to the Palmers house and it's been there for 100 hundred years and the Palmers didn't know that. The package was for William Seaborn Cox Esquire and the Palmers thought they got the wrong people, but it had the right address on it. Tiffany [a doll] tells Annabelle [another doll] about the box and then they go downstairs to see the package and there's a noise from inside the box so they say hello and the thing answered saying "Hi." They open the box and it's a doll!!!!!

I like the book Run Away Dolls because it's exciting and whenever I get to a good part I can't wait to turn the page. When Annabelle and Tiffany get into a problem I always want to know what they do to figure it out. That's why I like the book Run Away Dolls.

I recommend this book to people who like to read exciting fictional books and people who like Ann M. Martin's books.

The girls "hi-fived" each other when they saw that this book had 50 more pages than the last. What a great book!! The series has been instrumental in getting my daughter excited about reading. The only downfall is that this is the last in the trilogy.

5.0 out of 5 stars My daughter in 2nd grade loves this book!!!, May 25, 2009
This review is from: The Runaway Dolls (The Doll People) (Hardcover)
My daughter kept talking about this book that the teacher had read in her 2nd grade class. So upon my daughter's request we purchased this book and she hasn't stopped reading it. It is wonderful to see that there is a book that my daughter can't get enough of and it seems to be this one.

I highly recommend this book!!!

My 4th grader was never crazy about reading until she started this series. She completed the first book on her own without her mother nagging her to read! She immediately started the 2nd in the series. This was the series for her bookclub and all the girls really liked it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Third time's a charm!, January 24, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My almost seven-year-old loves these books, and devoured the first two within a week. She loves to read, but this was the first series that truly captivated her imagination and interest. She insisted on taking the books with her everywhere (I purchased all three in the series). Most evenings, I would sit with her and she would read the story out loud to me (just in case she ran into difficult words), which is how I became familiar with the stories.

My daughter thinks the third book is the best in the series and I agree. The story has a lot of suspense in it, and a sense of adventure permeates the story. Annabelle Doll and Tiffany Funcraft are back, and this time the pair are planning some exciting things to occupy themselves while the Palmers go on a two-week vacation. Since the family dog, the Captain is confined to a different part of the house, the dolls have the freedom to do as they please.

Well, the arrival of a mysterious package puts paid to the dolls' plans. When they discover what is in the package, it sets Annabelle and Tiffany off on a great big adventure - one that takes them out into the big, wide, world! Soon some of the other dolls join in, and they try to make their way home because they learn soon enough that adventure is all well and good, but nothing beats the security of familiar surroundings, family, and home. This is a great series for young children, and even though it might appeal more to young girls, I think boys might enjoy it too. It has enough adventure and suspense to pique the interest of any imaginative child.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful Book, September 1, 2011

This is a delightful book. Lots of fun to read and I think any child would love it as well as the adult who remembers, as a child, how you thought about what your dolls did when you weren't watching them!
