Hotel employee in a small Colorado town is shocked to see the father of her 5yo son whom she has not seen since her cruise vacation 6 years ago. They met & had an affair during the cruise but heroine didn't contact him until more than a month after due to getting hospitalized from a sickness & not being able to find Hero's phone number. Heroine finds out he just got married when she finally calls him. She decides to keep her pregnancy a secret from him. So seeing him again 6 years later makes her want to run & hide her son from him especially when she realized how much he grieved over the lost of his son who died with his wife a few years back. Hero is determined to rekindle their romance but finding out accidentally that he has a son with heroine pushes him to blackmail her into marriage. How will blackmail affect heroine's approach to a r/s with Hero?

A fair to good book. What made it good is that Dale kept the pace going with emotionally-engaging writing. I also liked the instant attraction & long-standing feelings the main characters had for each other. What made this book have a fair rating is the way the romance progressed & how it reflected on the main characters. Both Hero & heroine share the blame for their breakup. Hero didn't tell heroine while they were together that he was engaged. He didn't even look for her or wait long enough for heroine. He only waited less than 1 month for heroine to call him before he decided to marry his fiancé. It shows that he's ruled by social conventions to marry his fiancé even though he didn't love her. And it shows that he didn't really love heroine enough to search for her exhaustively before he married his fiancé. I like my heroes more obsessive about the heroine than this Hero was. Heroine didn't show that she was too keen about Hero either. She took her time calling Hero after she promised to call him in so many days. Part of the reason was b/c she didn't want her family to know about her affair with him. It showed her emotional immaturity & dependency on her family. And she didn't change much after 6 years. She still had a tendency to deny & runaway from her problems.

Recommended with limits.
