Excellent,

My children and I loved this book set in the time of Jesus Christ. A young boy has a demon-possessed sister and hears about Jesus' ministry. He sets out to get help for his sister. The accounts of his sister's outbursts are fairly disturbing for younger students. I feel it is best read as a family read-aloud.

Philo is a boy in the first century (Jesus's time). His sister is posessed by a demon. Because he can't stand to be at home anymore, he runs away and he learns about Jesus and he is never the same again. This book has a great ending. (I don't want to spoil the surprise.)

Some interesting insights into the ministry of Jesus Christ,
By Logan Wright (Springville, UT) - See all my reviews

This book is historical fiction. It takes place during the time of Christ's ministry in Palestine. It gives powerful imagery of those times and events. Even more powerful are inspiring insights into certain specific events such as His ministry in the regions of Samaria, Tyre and Sidon as well as the casting out of evil spirits into a herd of swine and the calming of the Sea of Galilee. I feel grateful and uplifted to have found this book.

I have never read a Patricia St. John book that I don't like, and I am picky about books, (some call it snobby) especially the ones I read to my children. This, as with all of her books, is well written. She knows how to come to a moral point without annoyingly sermonizing. The characters are easy to relate to, as they make mistakes and have to deal with the aftermath. They grow through their trials as they battle with good and evil. I cannot recommend The Runaway or her other books enough. I would not read this particular book to any child under 10, though some of her other books are suitable for younger ages. This is also great one if you are studying Ancient Rome with your kids.

Patricia writes here an interesting story that happens in Jesus times. The book is very interesting and at the same time it brings a clear and clean message about the Lord's teachings. I would recommend this to you if you want to read a book for yourself or for your kids.
