5.0 out of 5 stars OMGAH!!!
I love this maxi! One of Janet's finest. My personal favorites:
Runaway-Junior's Factory Mix (9:06)-One of Junior's best mixes, very islandy and awesome.
Runaway-Junior's Unplugged Mix (3:30)-Similar to the album version, but with more guitar, and it seems a little off compared to some of Junyah's later remixes.
When I Think of You-Extended Morales House...

3.0 out of 5 stars It's alright
Just as Janet puts it, "I tell you that it's alright with me!" This is a good CD Single, but it's by far not one of Janet's best. Runaway and When I Think Of You are two timeless Janet classics, so you'd think this CD would be excellent. Anyways, here's how I put it down...

First things first, the original song: Runaway. It appeared on Janet's 1995 hit...

When I Think of You-Extended Morales House Mix '95 (7:41)-GO DAVID MORALES!!! Very housy and piano-driven. It makes me think of a college, for some odd reason.

The other 2 songs, the album version of "Runaway" and the "Heller & Farley Project Mix", are great, but they could've had a little more.
l8r!

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than some people might lead you to believe, June 19, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Runaway / When I Think of You (Audio CD)
This is a great CD, no matter what the others say.
1. Original Version (3:34, 10/10): Just what it says.
2. Junior's Factory Mix (9:06, 10/10): Nice! Why do I think of an island resort when I hear this?
3. When I Think of You-Extended Morales House Mix '95 (7:41, 11/10): GORGEOUS!!! I adore this spectacular update. Very nice.
4. WITOY-Heller & Farley Project Mix (9.9/10, 10:41): Wow, almost 11 minutes! This is a dark-house take on the song. I don't hate it, but I'm not crazy about it, either.
5. Junior's Unplugged Mix (11/10, 3:30): Lovin' it! Nice, laid-back, guitary take on "Runaway". This is the best "Runaway" remix on here.
A very impressive EP, but why is it out of print already? I was planning on buying it from here, but it went out of print, and now the only place I can find it is Yahoo! Shopping! :(

5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic All-Time Single!, April 2, 2004
This review is from: Runaway / When I Think of You (Audio CD)
Wanna be in a genuinely good mood?Janet's "Runaway" will
get your there in a hurry. With it's uptempo elegance blending
synthesized world music effects and exotic melodies with Janet's
lilting lyrics the song encompasses alot but says what it has to
say simply and easily. And the remixes that come with it actually
give it a consistant effect-each one is very housy, one leans
toward hip-hop and the other is funk oriented.Good way to keep from the nice but redundant "Design Of A Decade" CD.This is my favorite song from this particular years!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth It..., March 15, 2001
This review is from: Runaway / When I Think of You (Audio CD)
I bought this CD-single when it came out in the fall of 1995, because I loved (and still love) "Runaway". Of course the original is the first track. The first remix (track #2), is an explosive house version with lots of build-ups, echoes, and a driving beat.

Track #3 - the Dave Morales remix of "When I Think Of You", is really nice - and way better than the second one which is more low-key, but still good. Then we get a funky, acoustic guitar-laden finale with a final version of "Runaway".

What makes this probably one of Janet's best maxi-singles is that it is very lengthy. It's almost a 1/2 hour by itself, with five songs, three of them being at least 7 minutes long. Worth it, worth it, worth it.

I must mention that I also own a casette maxi-single of "Runaway" which has four different remixes; three with Coolio, and this really great 'Old School R&B Remix' that was done by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. I actually think the 'Old School R&B Remix' is better than the original - think Groove Theory's "Tell Me" to get a comparison. I highly recommend checking out the aforementioned cassette maxi-single as well.

Anyhow, as Janet would say, "Get the point? Good... let's dance!"

This CD is worth the dough...definitely.

2.0 out of 5 stars Stay Away, February 6, 2010
This review is from: Runaway / When I Think of You (Audio CD)
It was a big hit when released during 1995 but this 5-track, mini EP now is lame. The remixes are tired cliches and the production work is pedestrian by contempoarary standards. The fact that used CDs sell for less than a dollar clearly indicates what the general public thinks about this old release.

If you are a Janet fan and don't own this, perhaps it is worth seventy-five cents. But, I seriously doubt that you will play this more than twice. Yeah, I know, it's Janet Jackson with tracks produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis with additional remixing by David Morales. But, I still am not impressed and remain unenthusiastic.

I love the song Runaway. It brings back good memories. I remember when the video came out when I was 7. She was traveling all over the world with that thing on her nose. I'll never forget how I show that to my mom and she was like OMG! Janet looks so beautiful in the video. She has nice teeth. I love the remixes. I like the Junior Factory remix. When I Think Of You is also my favorite and it also had good memories.

5.0 out of 5 stars My version of "Runaway" is different, April 5, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Runaway / When I Think of You (Audio CD)
My version of the single "Runaway" is different to the version showed on here, but still just as excellent. The remixes of "Runaway" don't get me wrong, were terrible. The remixes by Junior Vasquez were awful because they were more lame and laid-back than any other mixes they'd ever done before! (sorry)

The version I have, luckily, does not have any remixes of "Runaway" on the CD. Instead, it includes three remixes of "When I Think Of You" by David Morales on the CD. They are all very good and much better than the Junior Vasquez efforts of "Runaway". The first track is "Runaway" which I love. It got to number six in the UK Charts (seven weeks spent on top seventy-five) and was a US hit, too.

Tracks two - four are "When I Think Of You" in different mixes. Number two is shorter than the others and lasts for about three and a half minutes (shorter than the original which is unusual for a remix). Number three is the classic club mix which lasts for nearly seven minutes! It is exactly what it says - classic! Not only is it extended from the last mix but it also contains elements from the original! If you liked the original, you will like this. The last mix is apprantly an "edit" but it lasts for ten minutes odd! It is the Jazzy UK Mix Edit which is certainly jazzed up!

Overall - 10/10

I'd reccommend this single. "Runaway" is a great song. The mixes of "When I Think Of You" do alot of justice to the original version! (US number one, top ten hit!)

3.0 out of 5 stars It's alright, March 15, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Runaway / When I Think of You (Audio CD)
Just as Janet puts it, "I tell you that it's alright with me!" This is a good CD Single, but it's by far not one of Janet's best. Runaway and When I Think Of You are two timeless Janet classics, so you'd think this CD would be excellent. Anyways, here's how I put it down...

First things first, the original song: Runaway. It appeared on Janet's 1995 hit compilation 'Design Of A Decade: 1986-96' which reached an impressive #2 on the UK Charts, which just showcases how brilliant Janet really is. The single itself went straight to #6, spanning 7 weeks on the Top 75 UK Charts. It's a excellent song, like I said before - A timeless classic...

The two remixes of When I Think Of You that appear on here are also excellent, especially the second version of the song. One is a rather clubby beat, dubbed with a piano, it kind of reminds me of Madonna's Human Nature remixes. The second is very funky and clubby again, it is the better out of the two. Despite this, both remixes are great!

The two remixes of Runaway that appear on here are not very good. They are both remixed by Junior Vasquez, my favourite remixers along with Hex Hector or Hex Hector & McQuayle, and also after a great original version I expected the remixes to be even better! I was wrong. They are more laid-back and take away the power from the song. The first remix is to repetitive and the second sounds very dated and extremely laid-back compared to Junior Vasquez's original work. (I'd like to put extremely in big, bold, block capital letters.)

Runaway is a great song, but the remixes just don't quite cut it. However, remixes on here of When I Think Of You are excellent and worth buying for.

4.0 out of 5 stars Rare hip-hop remixes of Janet's soulful single, February 12, 2004
By
This review is from: Runaway (Audio Cassette)
Runaway was recorded solely for her Design of a Decade album. The CD single and cassette maxi single featured different remixes. Here's the track listing: 1 G.man's Hip Hop Mix featuring Coolio 2 Silk's Old Skool Radio Mix 3 Jam & Lewis Street Mix Edit 4 G.man's Hip Hop Extended 5 LP Version
This was released in 1995. Contains awesome picture of Janet and her beautiful abs with purple heart and lettering.
The LP version is a smooth beautiful pop song. The remixes on this cassette bring a street/hip hop vibe to the song.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Single!, November 3, 2000
This review is from: Runaway / When I Think of You (Audio CD)
Runaway was (and still is) a refreshing song. The lead single from her greatest hits album Design of a Decade 1986/1996 which has two new songs and 14 hits. The remixes on this single are fab. My favorite is the unplugged mix of Runaway, but the When I Think Of You remixes are great as well. A must have for fans!
