I am currently a student attending high school and this book has inspired me in so many ways. This story of Cat, who in order to find peace and self-discovery, has run away, and in her journey keeps a diary. This diary contains her beliefs, ideas, and the people and circumstances she encounters. It's a shame this book is out of print, because if it were back in print, so many more people could have the pleasure of reading this great book.

One of the best books I ever read,

This book meant the world to me when I was 12 and 13 and going through some difficult times. I got it from the library several times before buying my own copy. I read it so many times when I was a kid,and it was a great influence and comfort. I still get very emotional and sentimental when I think about it,and I am 45 now. I haven't read it all the way through in a few years, but there are sections that I know by heart from reading it so many times over my life. I identified so strongly with the main character,Cat,and I learned so much from her experiences that I felt wiser just from reading it. I have read so many amazingly wonderful books in my life, but this is one that has stuck with me for 33 years and is always at the top of my favorite book list. I can't say enough about how important it has been in my life.In a nutshell,it is a story of a young girl who runs away from a troubled home to try to make some sense out of her life and find some answers to the big questions that haunt us all. What she finds on her journey leads her to becoming stronger and surer of herself.

I read this book for the first time in the 70's, when I was a teen. I LOVED this book!!! And read it many times. I still have my original copy and am now passing it on to my son to read it. I wanted to find another copy for his friend, b/c I think they both would enjoy it.This book had left such an impact on my life. It made me want to be a writer.
