The Runaways Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Well, much to my horror, the movie does not seem to be destined to win any Oscars, but if you saw it, well then, you KNOW why I ran home from seeing the movie (on opening weekend!) and ordered it from Amazon ASAP. Some people might be a little turned off by Kristin Stewart and Dakota Fanning's versions being included, but you know what? I think it's really interesting to hear the difference between them and Cherie and Joan. I like to play a little game with this CD : I drive along, listening, and I try to guess if it's the actresses or the real Runaways!
Another crazy delicious surprise is Roxy Roller by Nick Gilder. Remember him from his awful "Hot Child in the City" song?! ICK! But check out "Roxy Roller"! WOW! Not to mention Iggy Pop, Bowie, and the fabulous Suzi Quatro!

The soundtrack is quite good, except they left out "I Love Playin' With Fire" with Kristen Stewart on vocals. One of my favorite songs and scenes from the movie. I'm disappointed about that to say the least.

Why are CDs mixed so loud these days? I just wish the producers of this CD had shown some restraint. The mix is so lound -- particularly on "Roxy Roller" -- that the bass and drums are distorted. Too bad because otherwise this is a great collection of songs. Even the Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart re-recordings are really enjoyable!

This album is great. I love listening to this soundtrack. As companions to this CD, I would also recommend the "Runaways & Queens of Noise (2-For-1)" CD and the "Joan Jett and the Blackhearts Greatest Hits [Original recording remastered]" CD. Surprisingly, Dakota Fanning has a cool sound of her own, which is what makes these three CDs go great together.

After listening to this and seeing the movie, I had to break out the rest of my Joan Jett albums. I loved that they kept some of the original Runnaway songs along with the Dakota Fanning and Kristin Stewart versions. It let you know how close they got to the vocals, while getting to enjoy what the real singers sounded like. The girls did a great job.

Bumped Jennifer's Body soundtrack out of my #1 favorite soundtracks! This soundtrack [Runaways] is really good, it has been played so many times on my Apple iPod nano 2 GB Silver (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL and on the stereo! This has really good covers by the actress from the movie (Dakota Fanning, Kristen Stewart, and Scout Taylor-Compton)! This CD is a must buy and is highly recommended for people who love the 70's and anybody who likes great rock 'n roll music.

bought this cd for my daughter and she loved it. Highly recommend for any runaway fan and also any Kristen Stewart or Dakota Fanning fan

This item is not totaly what I expected but I do enjoy some of the songs on it. If you grew up with this group as I did, the music helps you understand where the girls were coming from at this point in time. If not you might just want to listen to a bunch of girls trying to play headbanger music. Either way it's a cool soundtrack.

Why oh why is Lady Grinning Soul by David Bowie not on this soundtrack. I'm not a big Bowie fan but this song has a key role in the movie and is essential for the soundtrack imho. Odd.

Not bad, but the original Runaways recordings are better. The movie versions are OK, but not as raw.
