Based on the various books on metaphysical subjects this author writes, the author clearly doesn't spend time with any ONE single subject. This is probably why she doesn't waste time doing any research into learning the history of runes- that is clear when she says that Odin stabbed himself with his sword... anyone who does even the tiniest bit of research knows that Odin pierced himself with a SPEAR! After reading this inaccuracy, I realized I could not trust the information further. This is NOT a 'beginners guide' for anyone who wants to know the 'facts' about rune history or how it was a part of ancient Scandinavian culture. Further, they NEVER used a 'blank' rune in ancient times, and the fact that the author incorporates the blank rune without telling you it was never part of the ancient method, reeks of New Age twisting of rune heritage.

Funny how New Agers put their own twist on ancient practices, without telling you that it is THEIR personal belief that it is accurate. There is so much misinformation out there because of people like this- who think because they've received some spiritual information- that it applies to everyone else... well it does NOT! People need to learn the ancient ways FIRST, and then follow their own guidance about what works for them. You can't take these mass-publishing authors and believe everything they say, especially when it is not based on historical fact and obviously shows little to no research being done for accuracy. If a person expects to be able to use runes, then you should have some connection to the historical practices behind the rune legacy. In other words, you should have some connection to the Viking gods and Scandinavian culture. Otherwise, you might as well use tarot or any other divination method that doesn't come from a culture where runes were part of their religious practices. After all, how can one gather a true understanding of the runes, when one doesn't even resonate with their heritage?
