4.0 out of 5 stars Extremely Simple Process, But a Bit More Expensive, April 18, 2011
This review is from: Runescape Membership Card - 90 Days (Misc.)
Review of the Card Itself:

This is a simple as it gets. You buy the card which is about the same size as an iTunes gift card and other virtual credit / membership cards. I have bought about 6 of these cards in the past and I haven't had any problems yet. In fact, Jagex even rewarded me with a free 15 days (25% more) once!

This is literally how simple it is: (as of 4/18/2011, Jagex may slightly alter their billing interface in the future)
Step 1) Scratch off the back to reveal the secret number. (I like using a quarter to do this)
Step 2) Go to RuneScape.com and under Account, click "Upgrade Your Account"
Step 3) Log in
Step 4) Select your country (in my case, USA), then click Redeem Game Card.
Step 5) Enter in the number and click "redeem".

Boom! You have 90 days of membership instantly.

You don't need to enter a billing address or anything. It's as simple as that. The only downside is the cost. 90 days = 3 months. $22.50 / 3 = $7.50 a month. If you sign up directly with Jagex and pay by credit card, it only costs $5.95 a month. So, using this card is about $1.50 more expensive, but it is a great alternative if you do not have a credit card or do not want to enter your personal information. For the card itself, it's just made out of plastic with a picture (as shown on Amazon) on the front and just terms and conditions on the back. It's not much of a collector's item. If you have access to a credit card, I would recommend going directly to Jagex.

Quick Overview of Benefits of RuneScape Membership:
RuneScape can actually be quite a fun game with thousands of hours of gameplay. The game has been heavily revamped in the past few years and the graphics are like an early PS2 game. The best part is that it runs on almost any computer without any installation as it is browser based. Those who claim RuneScape is only for kids or is dumb without fully trying it are being ignorant. Especially at the higher levels, the game can be pretty intense. The Free version of the game is playable forever, but it becomes dull after the first 200 hours or so because you cannot get the next level of items or the next level of difficult of quests. The free world players are usually a bit more annoying to deal with also. Playing RS as a member is a whole different game.

Here are the pros of membership:
- At least 150 more quests
- At least 10 more skills
- The Member's game map is HUGE (probably 5 to 10 times bigger than the free game)
- Tons of bosses
- Lots of group games, battle arenas, contests, and mini games
- Higher level items and weapons
- Pretty much everything you can think of is expanded upon and improved
- thousands of hours of gameplay

Cons of membership:
- Price
- As with almost every other MMO or RPG, there is what is called "grinding." This means that for a certain amount of time you will have to work to train skills or get money before you can do some quests or get a certain item. This usually involves doing the same thing over and over again, which is boring for most people.
- Addictive
- Socially Awkward. Yeah, just don't tell your friends you play.

RuneScape is definitely a fun game and the developers have put more than 10 years of work into the game. The game is massive and has endless possibilities. I have put about 3,000 hours into the game over a course of 5 years or so. Recently, I have mostly quit the game and only play for a few hours once in a few months. For me, after playing for so long and reaching a high level, I needed a change as the game started to seem dull and mostly focused on increasing virtual levels that really don't mean anything. I guess the initial mysteriousness of the world subsided and the original drive to level up and be the best died down within me. I can definitely acknowledge the addictive allure of the game though; you can really get sucked in. Finally, Jagex developers in the past two years have been incredibly accessible - from monthly live Q&A to responding to forums to being active on Facebook. The developers are actually listening to the players and have significantly changed the game for players.

If you like RuneScape, and you have played the basic game for about 50 hours or so, membership will surely not disappoint. However, if you don't like MMOs or RuneScape for whatever reason, then obviously this product is not for you!

It is a great for players who don't have access to a credit card or phone. Plus on some occasions, you get an extra 15 days of membership if you have been subscribing to them everyday. It is worth the buy, though other users said that the online price is more cheaper by 3 dollars. I recommend getting five of these cards to keep a supply of your membership, just a recommendation. :)
