I am what you'd call an amateur runner. I did power walking for a while, mainly for the cardio benefits, but wanted to step it up and get into running. I thought my cardio was good and was disappointed when I started running and gassed in under a mile. But I kept at it. Many months later I worked up to 6 miles, and my run time was always around 1 hour and 10 minutes. Unfortunately, I pretty much plateaued at the 6 mile mark; I gassed every time and could go no further. That got to be pretty frustrating. While researching ways to break through plateaus I came across RunnersXL and spent quite a bit of time reading about it on their web site (runnersxl.com). At first I thought it was geared for serious marathoners, and I really didn't think it would help a relative newbie like me. But I was desperate to improve my running abilities, so I crossed my fingers and placed an order, and boy am I glad I did.
The first time I took it, I waited about one hour and then laced up and hit the streets. From the get go I had more energy, perhaps a coincidence I thought, so I pressed on. The miles flew by, and I noticed right away that my heart rate was 5-10 beats lower than normal. This allowed me to pick up the pace. I got the to the 3 mile mark, where I usually start to feel it, and I hadn't even broken a sweat. Running became EFFORTLESS. Next thing I know I'm in the final mile and I reach the end of mile 6, and in one hour! I shaved a full 10 minutes off my usual time. And, according to my Polar heart rate monitor, my average heart rate was 5-10 bpm lower for the run. Amazing. What's even more amazing is that I usually was completely gassed by the end of mile 6, but this time, I felt as if I could run forever. And I probably would have if my hip hadn't started hurting (I had a severe bike crash months earlier, injuring my hip). Honestly, if my hip wasn't hurting I think I would have pulled a Forrest Gump and ran forever, I LITERALLY felt like I could. I still had plenty of energy and almost felt as if I was floating along instead of pounding on pavement. It was actually a really strange experience for someone like me to suddenly have this level of endurance, as I am not a born runner by any means. Bottom line, this product works great for me and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to take their running abilities to the next level. |
