I bought the DVD and book for my wife. She has been a life-long fan. She is unbelievably happy about Runnin' Down a Dream. I, however, have respected Tom Petty but never considered myself a fan. Until now. Bogdanovich allowed the most engaging down-to-earth interview to just run it's course and you can't stop watching. Tom Petty is one of the coolest guys in Rock. Very well done.

I had the Runnin' Down A Dream DVD so when I purchased the book I was concerned that they would both have the same information. The book has different information and is not the same as the DVD at all. For all of you Tom Petty fans out there this is a must buy!

I've been a Tom Petty fan since the first gig I saw at the Meadowlands arena in New Jersey. When I left that show I decided I would buy everything he had out. Things haven't change much since then. I feel he is one of those rare artist that seems to get better with time. As far as the DVD, I thought it was insightful and very entertaining. Especially the early stuff when they were just getting started in Gainsville. Their rise to success has been steady and like most monsters they grew and grew. I would recommend this or anything from the Heartbreakers to anyone even remotely interested in checking them out. They are probably the best band in America today. Tom's writing has been inspiring and his music still makes my hair stand up. Easily one of my top 3 favorite artists. Enjoy this thing. I sure did!

I actually caught some of this DVD on Cable a good while back but since my wife is a huge Tom Petty fan and having recently seen the group live on the Mojo Tour I ordered this compangion Book along with the DVD Box set for her 50th B-day and I was compelety blown away by both!!

I have to say how brillanly I thought the Images was restored and how tastefully the entire book was put together!

The best part about this box-set is you don't even have to be a Tom Petty Fan to get this book. All you need to be is a fan of the arts and you'll be blown away and STILL come out a TP Fan!

You should get it while you can though as they're no longer manufacturing this set and I'd bet berfore too much longer this one's gonna a be tough find -even on Ebay... -P Brown Keyboardist/Producer Ocean Soul Studios [...]

My favorite aspect of the book is reading the diverging and converging stories that each of the Heartbreakers comments on. Each has a unique view; each brings his own refreshing perspectives. This isn't a book just about Tom Petty - it's about a bunch of mega-talented guys that worked their butts off to achieve their dreams. It digs deep and we hear the voices of Benmont, Mike, Ron, Howie, Stan, Scot and Steve. We listen to the good and the bad. But - in the end, we come away with a strong feeling that this is a band that cares about each other. They speak about each other with such respect. They are pure class.

And on the lighter side...those photos - these guys were and still are adorable. Get the book and drool.

I love it and watch it every night. Each member of the band is a virtuoso in his own right.
