Airbourne - "Ain't No Way But the Hard Way"

Biography

Joel O’Keeffe- Vocals/Lead Guitar
Ryan O’Keeffe- Drums
David Roads- Guitar
Justin Street- Bass

There’s something about the kind of potent rock and roll fury that Airbourne cranks out, all cylinders firing, that makes you want to chug a beer straight down your throat and punch the air as though it’d touched your wife inappropriately. It sounds crude, we admit. But that’s the thing about these Aussie… Read more in Amazon's Airbourne Store

Editorial Reviews

Runnin' Wild is their debut album of booze-and-sweat-soaked rock 'n' roll that isn't looking to change the world by abolishing Free Trade, but simply provide the ultimate soundtrack to the biggest all-night rock party there is. Airbourne is a four piece hard rock band blasting off from Melbourne, Australia. The album launches from their fist-pumping title track 'Stand Up For Rock n' Roll' to the anthemic 'What's Eatin' You' and the self-explanatory rock explosions of 'Too Much, Too Young, Too Fast' and 'Diamond In The Rough'. 11 tracks. 2008 Roadrunner Records. 5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!! A great rock album., January 31, 2008

Fly Guy (Eastern Shore, Maryland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Runnin Wild (Audio CD)
After about the 15th comparison to AC/DC, I decided I had to check out this band so I browsed their Myspace page and listened to some tracks. I was blown away by the energy. I picked it up on release day and flipped it into the CD player as soon as I climbed into my truck. Within minutes I had the volume blasting, rattling the windows, and could see myself in the bar raising a pint to these guys on stage. INCREDIBLE!

As incredible as the album is, there's nothing special here....no great guitar riffs, no exotic vocals. Just a kick a** band that likes its rock and roll loud and without compromise. Whereas AC/DC is a little more complex in their song structure (and Angus is way beyond this band in the lead guitar category), these guys settle for the simple in your face approach. The vocals are quite AC/DCish, and remind me a bit of the naughtiness of Bon Scott. The vocalist has a decent sound, nothing like Scott's devilish purr or Brian Johnson's growl, but his sound fits the songs well.

There will be no essays about the complexity of the songs, the in depth meaning of the lyrics....but there will be some good times across the USA in small venues as these guys tear a path across the States. Mates, welcome to the USA, and if you don't come to Albuquerque I'll completely rescind this glowing review and send you all straight to hell :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars God Almighty, Rock 'n' Roll, July 3, 2008
By
This review is from: Runnin Wild (Audio CD)
God, this is great music. I just got it an hour or so ago and have already played through it once, so I don't have an in depth review, but God Almighty does this kick a** in the royal tradition of the best of AC/DC. I think after I've played it 10 times I'll still think it is better than any AC/DC since Back in Black. I think even my 49 year old wife was diggin' it. Rejoice! I want more of this now. ROCK!

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm definitely gonna stand up for rock 'n' roll!, April 18, 2008
This review is from: Runnin Wild (Audio CD)
If you want great rock 'n' roll - loud, hard and fast with great guitar work, sing-a-long choruses and heavy drum beats, Airbourne's "Runnin' Wild" is sure to satisfy. From the epic opening of "Stand Up For Rock 'n' Roll", to the catchy choruses of "Diamond in the Rough" or "Cheap Wine and Cheaper Women", to the flat-out rock energy of these songs, this is a great album. I'd personally prefer the guitar solos to be a bit longer, since I like playing/ listening to longer, more indulgent solos, but whatever. THIS ALBUM ROCKS! If you want an old-school rock treat, you're gonna dig this. Thanks for the time, and peace.
