This review is from: Who's Running the Asylum? Inside the Insane World of Sports Today (Paperback)
this man wrote the truth in this book.he was the baddest basketball player ever.what he did was give you a complete game.and this book states the facts about how over-rated many and most things are today in sports.especially the nba.this man was multi-talented and was a true soilder.he was ahead of his time.and more importantly he was honest.this book comes correct just as he did.

An insight into Wilt,
By A Customer
This review is from: Who's Running the Asylum? Inside the Insane World of Sports Today (Paperback)
Provides an interesting insight into Wilt's mind, the game of basketball, and how it has changed over the years. Wilt is actually quite restrained throughout - I had hoped the book would be a bit more hard-hitting (though he does land a few punches!). Wilt's comments about the game and its players are a bit dated now, but my only real gripe about the book is that it's so disorganized! (He could have really used a writer to edit and reorganize the material. It takes some effort to slog though seemingly endless meanderings and ramblings.) At any rate, Wilt will sure be missed; the game today suffers without him!

Wilt ruffles feathers, but he gets you thinking!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Who's Running the Asylum? Inside the Insane World of Sports Today (Paperback)
This book can be called Wilt's SPORTS STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS. I graduated from High School in '68 and I've played and watched sports all these years... Wilt's comments touch all sports. I first read Asylum last year, but it was not until his death a few days ago that I really got to thinking about what he said and what a critical slice of American sports history he was. You can not help but GET IT when you read this book. You will understand how aggravatingly true all the inside secrets and stories he talks about are because Wilt has a LOT to say about the direction professional and college sports have taken. I am so glad a friend gave it to me as a gift. I am getting another one for my little brother.Wilt knew his message was important and he absolutely did not care whose feathers he ruffled in laying his perceptions out on the table. He gives us his INSIDER'S VIEW... some of it is hysterically funny, some of it will MAKE YOU ANGRY, but all of it will make you think. You can feel Wilt's pride, his joy or his frustration on every page. Wilt was OUT THERE in every aspect of his life. He played hard, lived hard and dished out hard truth. I really liked reading his quick hits and thoughts in the "WILTISMS". You will get to look inside the big man and into the world he helped build... this, IS his LAST BOOK... WILT'S LAST WORD!!
