Take off your shoes!,

This review is from: Running Barefoot on Holy Ground: Childlike Intimacy with God (Paperback)
From the first time I heard the title, I knew I wanted to read this book. I was not disappointed. With topics ranging from childlike faith to childlike worship, Dennis helps us see God through the eyes of a child and gives us a picture of the Father/daughter relationship He desires to have with each of us. Each chapter ends with "Child's Play"--specific steps we can take to peel away the layers of adulthood and love Him with childlike abandon. So grab the book, take off your shoes, and get ready to become a Daddy's girl!

Jeanne Gowen Dennis has reminded me that God delights in a childlike faith...trusting, secure, and dependent. Thank you, Jeanne, for this fresh perspective.

I loved Dennis's first chapter on child-like wonder. In this busy world we need to stop and enjoy what is all around us, seeing the intricate, the beautiful, the simple joys as a child might.

Recapturing my childlike faith,
By
This review is from: Running Barefoot on Holy Ground: Childlike Intimacy with God (Paperback)
"Perhaps you are allowing your fears to steal your joy," my friend said on the eve of my book release, "You need to recapture your childlike wonder." My thoughts flew to Jeanne's book sitting on my nightstand-unopened. Over the next few days I drank in her words and with each story and each exercise, I felt my joy returning. For those who've been wounded and must learn to trust again, Running Barefoot is a reminder that our Abba longs to see us embrace the joy and wonder of childlike faith. Running Barefoot beautifully depicts a Heavenly Father who is waiting there in that place of unbridled joy to catch us in his arms of unconditional love.
Thanks for the reminder Jeanne. Review written by the author of Direction: Discernment for the Decisions of Your Life

A group kind of book,

I enjoyed this book, it had a lot of insight and things for you to try in everyday life. But, it would be best if done in a group, like an adult Sunday school class.

Remembering Childlike Faith,
By Deanna Luke (Texas) - See all my reviews

On a recent cruise a friend and I read Running Barefoot on Holy Ground, and as we worked through the questions in the midst of the reading we found ourselves thinking back to simpler times with our faith. Each day we looked forward to see what Jeanne had to offer us that day. This is an excellent read for Christians of all levels. Bibld studies will find this to be a gem to get any group hungry for childlike faith again!

Discovering our own childlike intimacy with God,
This review is from: Running Barefoot on Holy Ground: Childlike Intimacy with God (Paperback)
Jeanne's book has been a delight and blessing to read. As a mother, I have seen behaviors of my own children in each chapter and it has brought back memories of my own childhood as well. I loved the section for "Child's Play". One of the many things we forget as we grow older is the awe and beauty in every day, if we allow ourselves to look with childlike eyes. Having scripture included at the end of each chapter was a wonderful idea enabling all to see God's word clearly applicable for each subject she covers. I encourage everyone to read and be refreshed by Jeanne's insight into "Childlike Intimacy with God". Terry Hanna
