This album by Beloved, is has lots of hardcore influence with a little bit of emo mixed in. This album is hardcore/emo, it's alot more hardcore than it is emo. If you remember a band called Bloodshed, Beloved reminds a lot of them. The lyrics are very strongly influnced by their Chritian beliefs, which is something else I really like.

5.0 out of 5 stars Legendary, July 10, 2006

This is by far the best album I have every purchased. I highly recommend this Beloved album as well as their latest - Failure On. Although this band has seperated, their music is more meaningful and powerful than any other band recording today.

5.0 out of 5 stars Melodic Genius, May 4, 2005
This review is from: The Running (Audio CD)
This band wears its Christian roots on its shoulders-- and this reviewer finds that to be perfectly all right. The Running EP, which originally came out before _Failure On_, shows flashes of the atmospheric melodic hardcore they would later adapt for that album but, its core sound, reminds me of Thursday's "Full Collapse"-- not so much in sound as much as I hear it in its urgency. The album has a desperation about it. The song "Kiss it Good Bye" was a crowd favorite (Beloved is now Defunct) and combined the bands expert grasp of melody with that previously mentioned urgency, making one cringe with an unknown regret as singer/songwriter Josh Moore screams "...and now kiss it goodbye!"

_The Running_ is a great title for this album because it gives off the impression that you're headed somewhere fast... whether it be running away from your fears or running into the arms of God, I'm sure Beloved would prefer the former.

Other highlights on this album are "Going Through the Motions" and "Before There was You, There was Everything". I would suggest any fan of melodic hardcore who enjoys innovation and emotion check this disc out-- I'd say its for fans of Thursday, Dead Poetic and Underoath.

5.0 out of 5 stars good tunes, March 15, 2004
This review is from: The Running (Audio CD)
Ok, for the other guy's (and anyone else who's wondering) info, this cd is older than Failure On. It's a re-release of their first release, with a new song added. Second, an EP has anywhere from 3-9 songs, so yes it is truly an EP. And well, yes it rocks just like Failure On. It is a little bit different, just tends to be the nature of earlier material, but a little bit of variety is always good. Anyway, buy it and enjoy it, cause you will.
