Editorial Reviews

Michael and Eddie are two broke college graduates who rent an apartment garage from Stan, a blind old war veteran. As they begin their tumultuous transition into the real world they quickly discover that finding a job is a lot harder than securing their degrees. RUNNING FUNNY is a story about the transitions we all make, and the lesson we all must learn; that sometimes accepting the inevitable changes in life means you have to stop running to move ahead.

Fun little story about two guys who the usual aspirations after getting out of school - the boys are certainly likeable, and easy to understand their conflicts. But it's Louis Zorich who steals the day. This perennial actor has been around a long time - and even has a small role in "Friends and Family" as a humorous mobster. Sure warn those who care about such things, this is not a gay film. The interplay between the two boys who seems to have different aspirations carries the film along. Not earth-shaking. If you have time from other more gripping tales, watch it, but don't hold your breath expecting anything earth-shaking.

An interesting dynamic among the characters. It was worth a view. It was not as engrossing nor compelling as some others.

What Anthony Grippa's directorial debut lacks in production value, it more than makes up for with sincere intent and a lot of heart.

This film was free through my Amazon Prime membership, so I gave it a try. The script and the director were trying to make a statement about the Millennial Generation, I believe. However, despite my patiently waiting for the film to "say" something or go somewhere, it just didn't happen. The crumbling friendship between the two lead characters wasn't believable. To the contrary, I could scarcely believe they were ever friends at all because of their extreme differences: one being aggressively obnoxious and shallow while the other is painfully introverted and contemplative.

The movie has an interesting premiss - recent college grads live in a gross garage in the home of an older man. The lives of the young characters unfold with some guidance by the land lord. There is something wrong (mentally) with the land lord and yet he still seems to come up with wisdom. The movie story was good and kept me interested the entire time. The movie also deals with wishes and dreams and how life can through us curve balls at every turn. Worth the time to watch it.

I have to say when this started I was a little worried about where it was going. But it grew on me. It will grow on you. I am not going to go over the story line in great detail but needless to say a lot of us were in similar situations when we started out as to where these guys are at the start of this story at least at some time in our life. I did not live in a garage, it was an attic which was uninsulated and stifling hot in summer and freezing cold in winter.

How you handle adversity and uncertainty says a lot about strength of your character. Loving kindness towards others when the world is s***ting on you says a lot as well. The interplay between the two young men is funny to watch. these are not the spoiled techie boys of the upper middle class whose dads use their connections in the business world to get them into a starting position somewhere. They are where they are and will rise or fall depending on a series of circumstances they do not quite understand or have anyone who can explain to them about. One kid is quite obnoxious but that obnoxiousness is a clear complications of the life he desperately wants to escape but feels anxious he is doomed to fall into - what he sees as the failure of his father. The other is more complex and introspective. He has nothing not even the fallback of juggling or a room in his parents house. I was very glad I watched this all the way through. I roared with laughter and even shed a couple tears but in the end I was very satisfied. See if you do not feel the same.

Let's be fair. This is a very good story about being a young adult in America. The actors are excellent, the story is very good. It doesn't have to be kinky! Full credit, please, for an excellent film.

I watched this based on the other reviews and surprising it was a fun movie to watch. Sometimes a bit irritating but it had a nice message and a good cast. It's worth watching.
