5.0 out of 5 stars Spiritually intense and moving novel!
Besides Shane Johnson, this is the first Christian author I have read that I have been impressed with. The story was well-written and moving, having a largely spiritual focus. Many issues we deal with in our modern culture were addressed from a Biblical viewpoint.

3.0 out of 5 stars The RunningGirl
This was the first time I have read a book with a religious theme. I found the book very interesting while also I felt that I gained some insight on how different people feel about their religion and how it shapes their lives. I found the part about Nero educational and interesting. This being Mr. Blankenships' first work of fiction, it was enjoyable and what I would...

Besides Shane Johnson, this is the first Christian author I have read that I have been impressed with. The story was well-written and moving, having a largely spiritual focus. Many issues we deal with in our modern culture were addressed from a Biblical viewpoint.

One of the only issues I have with the novel is that I wished it was longer, as I read the book from cover to cover in a matter of hours. Otherwise, the story was powerful and deep, bringing to light a demonic agenda which threatens our modern society. Exactly what do I mean? When you learn a certain demon's "name" you will understand. The underlying message, woven into the fictional story, unveils the growing darkness within society, yet shows the power of the Lord Jesus despite that growing evil. This book was much more than the story of a family traveling to different runs around the country. Ignore the deeper message of this book and the Lord at your peril.

Order this book now and run along with Mr. Blankenship's powerful story. Don't miss it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Running Girl, November 1, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Running Girl (Paperback)
The Running Girl by Dan Blankenship is an intriguing book with an intriguing premise. What would you do if your young daughter told you that God had talked to her and told her that she needed to race? Probably laugh and think she was cute but just ignore the message. That's what Reese Mantle tried to do but Kylee and God had other plans. Reese finds himself embroiled in situations that he could never even imagine. He and Kylee trust in God and move forward step by step until the dramatic conclusion.

I enjoyed the book and the message. The book is inspirational as well as enjoyable.

5.0 out of 5 stars I couldn't put the book down, I read it all one afternoon!, April 5, 2005
This review is from: The Running Girl (Paperback)
Wow, what a powerful story, and I personally know the author. The book was soo good, I laughed, I cried, I was convicted, encouraged, and inspired. I couldn't put the book down, I read it all one Sunday afternoon! I started calling people and admonishing them to get the book, many of them said they felt compelled to get the book after I told them about my experience. The running Girl is a must read for people of all ages!

4.0 out of 5 stars Exciting!, November 15, 2004

This review is from: The Running Girl (Paperback)
With his first novel, Dan Blankenship shows he has a real gift for writing. The Running Girl is suspenseful and exciting! The classic tale of good versus evil. The characters are well written into the author's vivid imagination. This book shows a positive family situation with a good message and I would classify this book as Christian reading. There are a lot of religious beliefs and ideas that may not be shared by all readers. I look forward to reading more suspense writing in the mainstream from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Frank Peretti, Move Over!, April 4, 2005
This review is from: The Running Girl (Paperback)
I found "The Running Girl" a fast paced story that kept me turning the pages. Dan Blankenship, using suspense with believable characters and events, unfolds an extraordinary tale which leaves you wondering, is it fact or fiction? An ordinary morning for the Mantle family is turned upside down when eight-year-old Kylee begins prophesying. Or is she? Who or what is behind these events which come to pass? As the plot thickens who will you believe? Could this really be happening somewhere today? The demonstrations of conflict between humanity and the supernatural powers were so realistically portrayed that the hair on my arms would rise up and stand on end as I was reading it and I could not put the book down. If you like Frank Peretti's style, you will like this novel. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a page-turner.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Truly Great Book, March 25, 2005
This review is from: The Running Girl (Paperback)
The Running Girl by Dan Blankenship is a truly great novel. The book is very well written and the plot is very captivating. The story is good and the characters are as well. The ending of the book is as good of an ending as I have read in a book. If you well thought out plot with a great ending, this is a book you will really enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Running Girl, December 10, 2004
This review is from: The Running Girl (Paperback)
I was surprised when I started to read this book, I didn't want to put it down. It was very interesting, especially being it was in the area where I live. The book was very well put together and held your interest. You could not wait to see what lay ahead for the family. When the homeless man came out and the girl was not afraid of him and was willing to help him and gave him a meal, it made you feel like you were there also. Dan , it seems like, has what it takes to write a good story and keep it together and not jump all over the place like some writers do. Can't wait for another story. I know it'll be as good. Good luck Dan.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Running Girl, September 25, 2004
By
This review is from: The Running Girl (Paperback)
The Running Girls uses a plot replete with miraculous events to reflect on the nature of faith and how that faith intertwines with life that, when one looks below the surface, is much more miraculous than it normally seems.

Blankenship does an excellent job of discussing how a Christian may sometimes fight, but all to often succumbs to the secular nature of our society. While interested with the storyline, I found myself more preoccupied in the character development and faith of Reese Mantle.

I began thinking that the characters were a bit too "squeaky-clean" as I made my way through most of the chapters. Kylee, of necessity, carried this image. But in reading through the climax of the novel, the failings of Reese that I had expected to appear much earlier and much more demonstratively were refreshingly revealed in an enlightening and effective manner.

The way the author deals with the supernatural realities of this world are certainly worth reading. I look forward to his next work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful and Moving, September 5, 2004

This review is from: The Running Girl (Paperback)
Dan Blankenship's novel "The Running Girl" takes the reader directly into Reese Mantle's life and world. I laughed at some of Reese's antics and cried at all of his heartaches. The novel is a thrilling read and moves quickly toward a climactic battle between good and evil. Although fictional, the written testimony of God's healing power and neverending mercy left a lasting impression in my heart and mind. I felt as though I could relate directly to Reese in his struggle to lean solely on his faith in God.

Blankenship's "The Running Girl" is descriptive enough to put the reader in Reese's world but not so much as to divert the reader's attention from the story.

I would recommend this novel to anyone - children and adults alike. A very good first novel. I hope to read more of Blankenship's work.
