Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Running QuickBooks 2003 Premier Editions (Paperback)
I purchased this book in the hope that it would cover the Accountant version of Quickbooks Premier. It did so to a very limited extent. I compared the table of contents to the features listed by Intuit and only about half were covered and one did not even have a full page covering it. I don't know if the author just chose not to cover them or if the comparison chart of the various features offered with each version on Intuit's web site are nothing more than pure embellishment. Also this book is very expesive (16 cents per page) for what little it does cover and not even Amazon gets a price break off the price that the author lists it for on her websiteIn fairness I have not found any book that covers Quickbooks Premier Edition, Accountant completely. I have to agree with some of the previous reviews that the book does in fact have a "help page" look and in some respects is not much better. But I also have to agree that there is useful information in the book. Given what I know now I would not buy the book again. It does not do what the title of the book says. It does not completely cover the product. Save your money until there is a product that lives up to the name "Running Quickbooks 200X Premier Editons."

Wonderfully written instructions,
By A Customer
This review is from: Running QuickBooks 2003 Premier Editions (Paperback)
Not only are there beautifully written instructions on how to use all the special features in Quickbooks Premier, the author also gives lots of useful information about when to use the features. The tricks and workarounds she provides makes every feature useful, even if your company does things differently than the Quickbooks program assumes. This book is worth ten times its price.

Great Help!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Running QuickBooks 2003 Premier Editions (Paperback)
Some of the sophisticated features in QuickBooks Premier for Accountants are terrific and useful, but it can be hard to figure out how to use them to best advantage. This book not only provided clear instructions on how to do everything in the software, the author explained why to do some things one way, and when to do those things another way. Every client of mine gets superb service now, because I really understand the features and how to use them to best advantage. The author is a genius, at least about QuickBooks. This book gave me enormous advantages over other accountants who support QuickBooks, but don't know all the secrets and tips I learned in this book.

Great Tips,
By A Customer
This review is from: Running QuickBooks 2003 Premier Editions (Paperback)
I got more out of the features in the software from this book than I ever would have figured out on my own, even with the help system files opened all the time. This writer understands the nuances of all the features and made them easy to use, but more important, made it possible to get more out of the features than seems possible when you first start using the software. I heard about this book at a seminar, when two accountants raved about it. They weren't exaggerating, this book made me feel much better about the extra money I spent for the Premier edition of the software, because I'm getting the best out of everything that came in the software.

Tricked out of my money,
By A Customer
This review is from: Running QuickBooks 2003 Premier Editions (Paperback)
That's the only trick in this book. 6 chapters dedicated to remote access. Yes there are tricks for power users of Quickbooks but not worth the $...for this set of brief instructions. Pass on this one.

Has all the answers,
By A Customer
This review is from: Running QuickBooks 2003 Premier Editions (Paperback)
When I bought the Premier Edition of Quickbooks I got a free copy of this author's great book on the Quickbooks basics, the Official Guide-which comes with the software and is on the Premier Quickbooks CD disk. That book covered all the basics, and was filled with great tips. But I was having problems trying to figure out how to use the accountant's tools, especially the tools that would let me analyze clients books. I bought this book and every question I had was answered, and I got a lot of great ideas for using the analysis tools for clients. Since Quickbooks doesn't provide any manual for the Premier edition, nobody will get the real benefit of the Premier software without this book. The small price of the book is a great investment for getting your money's worth out of the Premier Quickbooks.

Book has a misleading title and doesn't meet my expection,
By Michael Yu (Plano, TX USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Running QuickBooks 2003 Premier Editions (Paperback)
This is a small, thin book (160 pages cover to cover with large fonts). It talks about the features extra to only the Premier Edition, not to teach Quickbooks as a whole. For example, half of the book's content is about Internet remote access to Quickbooks database, and one quarter of the contect is about business planning, and the rest one quarter about something else.If your intension is to learn how to use Quickbooks software and its features and functions, this book is not for you. I bought it from Amazon and from the second I received the package, I know it wasn't right. Then I spent 2 days read through it and confirmed my fear. I am returning the book to Amazon.

I was very annoyed after spending extra money for the Premier Edition of Quickbooks and finding no manual in the software box for the Premier features, so I had to buy a book. Now I'm grateful to the Quickbooks company for making me buy this book, because it's a wonderful guide to the Premier features. The writer explains features perfectly, not just explaining how to do things, but also explaining when to do them, when to do something different, and what happens behind the scenes (the accounting ramifications). This book made it possible to get full value out of the Premier Edition of Quickbooks.

great coverage and explanations,

This review is from: Running QuickBooks 2003 Premier Editions (Paperback)
I use this book for training seminars for accountants because it's clearly written and offers great examples of when to use features, and when to use workarounds to get more out of features. The Premier Editions aren't actually all that different from regular editions of Quickbooks, but they do have more "extras" - things you have to pay for on a monthly basis. The author selected all the right extras to discuss, the ones that are most useful, and most used, and skipped over the others. This makes the book a perfect tool for getting up and running quickly and accurately.
