One of the songs that first got me excited about Within Temptation is the provocative Kate Bush cover "Running Up That Hill." Though I hadn't heard the original before picking up this version (okay, not a Kate Bush fan), I was intriguing by Sharon den Adel's powerful vocals and the amazing, unexpected lyrics that are laced with such vibrant emotion. I found myself frequently coming to this song when I needed something to vent with (okay, I was a teenager at the time, so semi-angsty gothic metal songs were awesome), but also just enjoyed getting into the emotions and letting myself be swept up in the drama of "Running Up That Hill." Did I mention the feel here is more alike to WT's older, more doom metal sound? Though there are no growls on "Running Up That Hill," the metal has an edgy, almost uncomfortable feel to it that draws me into the story. You can't go wrong with this song.

Also included on this exclusive EP (only released in Europe, might I add) is a fantastic live version of "Running Up That Hill." Though Sharon's live performance has improved since this was recorded, it emphasizes the fact that it's a shame WT doesn't perform "Running Up That Hill" live much anymore (if at all). Also included are Mother Earth songs "Deceiver of Fools" and "Caged." Neither are as catchy as "Running Up That Hill," but still draw on the band's more gothic/doom roots and exhibit trademark WT raw emotion and somewhat over-the-top drama.

But really, both songs are included on Mother Earth, and serve only as a small bonus here. The real star is "Running Up That Hill."
