Book Description

Grace Martin buried her mother six years ago and her step-father six months ago. She and her young sister are now alone in the world. After she completes one final task for her step-father, she’s going to show Kim as much of the world as she can. But she has to hurry. Kim’s leukemia has returned and they’re running out of time.

Greg Cooper hasn’t seen his father in fifteen years and doesn’t expect to. He spends his time fighting fires and hanging out with his teen-aged son. His life is pleasant and predictable. That is until a pretty girl jogs into his fire house to deliver a package that is destined to change his life. And his father reaches out from the grave to strangle him!

5.0 out of 5 stars I really love this one! March 19, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I have read all of Ms. Coon's books and I agree with another reviewer...this is my favorite to date. Ms. Coon's research and fact accuracy has impressed me throughout her writing and never more so than in this book. I was really drawn into the anguish and pain of not only Kim but her older sister, Grace, as well. Greg Cooper is definitely one of the good guys. I enjoyed seeing his genuine caring but also the development of the relationship between him and Grace. A book I will probably read over again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Try to Plot This Family Tree April 26, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Kinda-sorta sister has a baby with her kinda-sorta brother as the father they kinda-sorta have in common force them into a marriage neither of them wanted... And he does it from beyond the grave. Spooky. Toss in a nephew-brother meets aunt-sister for added fun. Additionally everyone is dying or has died of some sort of cancer, but it's okay 'cause two owls will save the kittens--after hiking a glacier and kayaking. Confused yet? Well backstage passes to see a boy band will surely make everyone feel better, unless they're busy fighting a forest fire for 13 days. Ah, just buy the book. It's not easy to explain, but the story is good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Reading August 13, 2013

I thought her style of writing was very good. I especially enjoyed that the sexual encounters were not explicit as so many authors seem to think necessary. The continuing Family characters was also interesting.

More About the Author

Gina Coon resides in Southern California with her husband and children. When she isn't writing she enjoys sewing and crafts, as well as volunteering at her church, scouts, and her kids' schools.

For more than a decade Gina was defined as a (crazy) homeschool mom. After retiring from homeschooling, she found herself at loose ends, unused to having time on her hands. As a little girl her head was filled with made up stories and that hasn't changed. An avid reader, she's always loved books and the idea of writing one. Deciding to capitalize on all those years of teaching and editing her sons' essays, she quietly started a project. She had no idea if she'd produce a decent paragraph, let alone a whole story. Her first book, Elizabeth's Hero, was a huge personal achievement that launched a love affair with writing.

Her Christian faith is often reflected in her stories. The main characters are generally good people with strong values and, of course, there is always a happy ending!
