4.0 out of 5 stars Best book written about a Trans America Footrace, October 30, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Running theTrans-America Footrace (Paperback)
This is probably the best book written about one of the 9 footraces across America. A must have for anybody who wants to do something similar. It describes very well the struggles along the road with rules, logistics and other crap. Things which haven't changed since 1928.

4.0 out of 5 stars Running across a Continent, April 11, 2007
This review is from: Running theTrans-America Footrace (Paperback)
As a long-distance runner for the past 19 years I can relate to this book. Although I would never run that long, especially on a hard surface.
I have been the official photojouirnalist for a similar run across Europe.

I think there are several criterias that are a must before even considering such an event for any one to participate in.
Time, money, support of family and friends, determination mental toughness and a certain level of fitness.

The book gives a fair account of what it takes to engage in sucdh an outrageous event but there are always people who accept such challenges.

I will have a book written by 2100 after I will accompany Jesper Olsen - the Danish runner who became the 1st human to run around the world in over 2 years, finishing in October 2005. I will be there not to run but as crew, driver and photographer) for a North - South world run.

The book about the Across America Run depicts the hardships in every aspect in vivid terms and even none ruinners shopuild get some benefit from reading it.
