5.0 out of 5 stars The Mastering of the Succession Technique!, December 16, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Rurouni Kenshin (Between life & Death) Episodes 40-43 (DVD)
If you thought Luke Skywalker going back to Yoda to complete his Jedi training was cool, keep your panties on! Because this part of the Rurouni Kenshin series has evolved to become maybe my favorite part! Yes even over Shadow of the Wolf, Blind Justice, Innocence and Experience, and Fire Requiem! This disc contains the return of Hiko, Sejuro, only the coolest character in this series!! Also in this disc you will learn what it takes to pass on the Hiten Mitsurugi Technique from master to apprentice, and why there can only be one successor! When are they going to release a series based on his Hiko's past exploits?? CUMMON MANGA KA! YOU MUST CREATE SOMETHING ABOUT THE PAST OF HIKO SEJURO...and maybe the later adventures of SOJIRO (when he leaves shishio's juppon gatana)!

5.0 out of 5 stars Legend Of Hiko Sounds Good...., December 15, 2002
This review is from: Rurouni Kenshin (Between life & Death) Episodes 40-43 (DVD)
This DVD features the ending of the battle against Chou, Kenshin gets a new sakubatou and proceedes to his master's hut in the mountains, here he begs his master to train him in the final secrets, and reunites with Kaoru and Yahiko

Hiko finally agrees and Kenshin's training completes after a few episodes of Hiko yelling at him, the last episode is a bit of a cliffhanger when Kenshin masters the final attack

Kenshin's past is dug into a bit, but if you have watched the Rurouni Kenshin OVA (Samurai X Trust and Betrayal) you will notice ALOT of differences, personnaly I think that both stories are good(the OVA one was a bit short)

Overall if you're this far, don't stop, it gets better

5.0 out of 5 stars The best part of Kenshin, June 28, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Rurouni Kenshin (Between life & Death) Episodes 40-43 (DVD)
If you are looking for the darkness of Rurouni Kenshin's OVAs (Samurai X by ADV) then the series nor the movie will have it; however, Kenshin's battle with Shishio is about the most exciting part of the entire series which spans 90+ episodes. Composing of a good portion of the episodes (i forgot exactly how many), Kenshin's battle with Shishio begunning with the "Shadow of the Wolf" and is continued through this DVD, is awesome. It is definitly worth seeing, and the only part i suggest WORTH collecting, but you will not have some of the background of the characters that Kenshin meet during the series such as Sanosuke, Anji, and the rest. So, to get a good view, watch some of the first three DVDs to get a general background on everything and you should be good to go.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kenshin is pure greatness, July 26, 2001

This review is from: Rurouni Kenshin (Between life & Death) Episodes 40-43 (DVD)
I have seen much farther into the series and i still think that this is the best part. The whole build up to the shishio battle is worth it. The only thing that disapoints me about this anime is lack better villians after shishio. If you are getting bored of all the talking that has been going on and the lack of action, try to hold through a little longer. Starting with dvd there will be around 25 episodes packed with fighting. This is the best new series of anime by far.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kenshin RULES, September 19, 2001

hands down, Rurouni Kenshin is by farone of the best animes I have seen, I have not seen all of the series yet, but since the Samurai X OAV's I have been hooked and have the collect up till this DVD, and this one is just as good as all the others, Kenshin's cute anime style, mixed in with the serious side of the whole dealing with life, and the world around us type situations makes this a deep story as it is entertaining, words just cant say enough about it I recommend it to EVERYONE! Hiten Mitsurugi Style--Ama Kakeru Ryu no Hirameki....

5.0 out of 5 stars The best DVD of the best anime series of all time (Oh yes..), January 12, 2002
This review is from: Rurouni Kenshin (Between life & Death) Episodes 40-43 (DVD)
This is the highlight of Rurouni Kenshin, my favorite anime series of all time. This disk features my favorite character, Hiko, at his peak... this disk should be called Rurouni Kenshin: Legend of Hiko. Everybody should see this disk (and the rest of them)... it is hotter than the hottest bacon.

5.0 out of 5 stars A new legend is born from the past, August 20, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Rurouni Kenshin (Between life & Death) Episodes 40-43 (DVD)
Forget about Marvel, DC or Image comics. Forget about these people with superpowers from an X-gene or coming from outerspace. Legends are born from this world's own history. History made by normal people with amazing skills. This series is the best I've seen since Robotech. Kenshin has a great storyline, fast-paced, with little love stories. Instead of having your DBZ earth special forces, we've got our Tokyo special forces (a legendary hero, a renegade/thug, a medic, a female fencing instructor, and a boy in training). If you like Jackie Chan and Mortal Kombat (the way it's supposed to be), you'll die for Rurouni Kenshin.
