After assembling the unit I was glad it was going to be kept in my garage and not in the den. Some of the interior pine boards used for actually holding the rods had large semi-circle gaps on the finished edges where the sawn through knot holes fell out. The exterior sides which were supposed to look rustic actually just looked crude and mostly unfinished with splinters and large globs of glue. Additionally, these outer areas had not been completely cleaned and sanded. Large areas were not covered by the sealer that they used. To eliminate splinters and snags, I had to remove the glue with a knife, sand down the splinters and spikes then put a sealer on. It still looks crude but it does roll out from its compact storage area so I can choose a rod and reel.
