5.0 out of 5 stars Darude has done it again!
Darude definitely knows music! He has created a work of art. All of the songs differ from one another unlike Before the Storm. I'm not saying that cd was bad or anything; I have enjoyed all of the songs ever since I bought the cd. However, it is obvious that Darude spent much more time making this cd and it definitely paid off. My favorite song so far is Obsession...

3.0 out of 5 stars Rushed
Darude made one of the best techno/dance albums a few years ago. Their awesome sound was played everywhere and sond such as "Sandstorm" "Feel the beat" and "Out of Control" were among the best singles to date, this album is not such a revelation, the fast darude sound is somehow gone and many songs are going in a slower tempo, the hit single...

However, it is obvious that Darude spent much more time making this cd and it definitely paid off. My favorite song so far is Obsession. This song is a slow builder and you must listen to the whole song to get it. But boy does it treat you well! All of the other songs are really pleasing to listen to. This cd is too slow to dance to, but is perfect to listen to when you're driving or relaxing. Ahh screw it!! It's good to listen to wherever, whenever! Do yourself a favor and buy this cd!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Darude - The God of Trance, October 26, 2004

People who say that Darude's first album - "Before the Storm" is better than this have no clue what they are talking about. In "Rush", he avoids the monotonous feeling that "Before the Storm" had due to very similar beats in most of the songs and an obsession with his "Sandstorm" synth, which he uses in about every other song. In "Rush" Darude shows his true talent for composing uplifting trance music with outstanding melodies like in "Bitter Sweet", "Rush", and "Passing By" along with much cleaner, crisper beats than many other Dance CDs. Also, I have always disliked lyrical trance and it is becoming harder and harder these days to come by an album with mostly non-lyrical songs - many great artists are veering towards the more cheesy lyrical trance (Blank & Jones, Paul van Dyk) but Darude manages a whole album with just one lyrical song (2 mixes of it). Best. Trance. Album. Ever. If you like Darude, check out some music by "Ignite" at http://www.ampcast.com/ignite

4.0 out of 5 stars "Rush" = Dance Powerhouse, May 31, 2004

At first, I gave this CD four stars. However, as time goes on and I listen to the CD more and more, it's amazing. It's one of the few techno CDs I can really listen to start to finish. The only other bands to successfully do that for me is Scooter and Rammstein. Darude, you've definately moved forward since "Before the Storm". Keep going in the same direction as you are now and you'll enjoy much more success along the road.

Although the songs "Music" and "Next to You" are supposed to be the big hits from this CD, it's songs like "Passing By" that make the album great. With most techno CDs, it seems that the album revolves around one or two hits and the rest is just stuff to fill in the space. Not so with "Rush".

"Rush" is a great CD for Darude and techno fans alike. By moving out of the mainstream, Darude's music becomes much better. I can't wait to see the next release from him.

5.0 out of 5 stars Darude=Awesome(Again), April 21, 2004

I first heard (of) Darude, as about everybody else has; through the world-smash "Sandstorm".

I found it on a dance mix cd after extended searching at the local cd-shops 'round town. Then, at Wal-Mart (of all places) do I find Before The Storm.

*snatch*
*listen*
*fall in love*

I'm a small-time dj, and at least one song from it found it's way into my mix. The moods of the songs always fit somehow.

Then, as I was at Best Buy checking out the trance selection they had, I saw a few copies of a Darude CD I had never seen before.

*gasp*
It WAS new!
It was Rush!

I almost ran out of the store with it.

It's been in my cd rotation ever since.

My favorite song on here is track three (Bitter Sweet).
It's emotional, has the signature Darude 'woosh', and (I think) it fully expresses itself musically within the 6:06 length.

The original mixes of both 'Music' and 'Next to You' are in my opinion better than the remixes/radio edits, but the title track is wonderful, full of bass and atmosphere.

'Drive' is reccomended when you...Drive. 'Nuff said.
'Passing By' kind of feels like Drive's kid brother in the backseat.

(I feel like I've skipped a few songs...Bummer-thing)

the last real track, 'Ranta' is a guitary travail through musical space...Kind of Latin in style, and kind of sad (it seems to me), but a good track to finish with, for sure.

Buy if you're looking for a good trance cd if you're just getting interested, or if you're looking for a cd by Darude.

You won't be disappointed in either case.
- Henry

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, July 24, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Rush (Audio CD)
I believe anyone who enjoyed the fist album will like this one very much. Music, Healing, Obsession, Drive, they're all good! Well, except for maybe Ranta - I think they had to throw in a slow tune and this was their pick.

Despite what the editorial review says - "brainless" mix - I have not found another DJ who was able to produce the awesome sounds and beats in Darude's music.

One thing to note - being in another state really brings out sounds you wouldn't hear otherwise - and it's great to listen to while on a long, night drive. Someone who is looking strictly for dance or club music will probably be disappointed. This is more of a euro-trance album. If that's your style - give this album a try.

Darude is ahead of the spin industry. This CD is one of his best and I highly reccomend it to anyone who has a palette for techno/electronica music.

5.0 out of 5 stars The definitive version of 'Rush', January 20, 2004
This review is from: Rush (Audio CD)
With the release of his second album, Darude (Ville Virtanen) was able to branch out of his 'sandstorm' stage and reach out into new territory. The first single (which happens to be the first track on the album) "Music" (3:30) is remixed by Bostik to create an awesome trance pop single. The second single "Next To You" (3:56) is supposedly remixed in radio edit form, but doesn't seem to change much from it's original 12" vocal mix, other than that this and the first single turn out to be great singles that bare little resemblance to the aformentioned 'Sandstorm'. Other standout tracks include: "Passing By" (5:50), "Bitter Sweet" (6:56) , "Rush" (6:14) and "Healing" (6:56). All of the other tracks are good as well. In addition to the main CD of ten tracks you also get the original 12" versions of "Music" (7:17) and "Next To You" (7:35), and you get an additional CD which features 7 mixes of tracks from Darude's first LP "Before The Storm" and a brand new remix of "Music" (6:09) by Megara Vs DJ Lee. On the second CD you also get ALL of Darude's music videos. Which include: "Sandstorm" (3:44), "Feel The Beat" (4:12), "Out Of Control" (3:42), "Music" (3:47), and "Next To You" (3:58). Overall, this is the best version of Darude's second album you can get. If you don't mind paying a bit extra for this version than go ahead and buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Emerges from other 'mainstream-trance'!, January 1, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Rush (Audio CD)
Wow, I didn't expect this from a commercial radio-trance DJ!
Nice job from Darude, his music has developed a lot since Before the Storm (which I especially didn't like).
I'm suprised that I can enjoy this one, so I gave it five stars.
'Healing' is my favourite I guess.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you Darude, November 1, 2003
This review is from: Rush (Audio CD)
Ok, first off, if you ever see his name spelt Da Rude, then the person who wrote that needs HELP. That is not how you spell it, OR say it. Ok, to the record, THANK YOU DARUDE!!! This record show his true colors, the song Music (both mixes) are by far the best on the record. The song Ranta is also very cool. It mixes a Mexican vibe with trance. This comes out as a very cool song. If you buy this CD, you won't listen to it over and over, back to back. But you will listen to it a lot. This is a great album because it always seems to fit your mood. This record never gets old!

4.0 out of 5 stars As Good As Before the Storm, October 30, 2003
By
Lizzie D (Wellington New Zealand) - See all my reviews

I bought this purely because I thought Before the Storm was such a good album. This is excellent and Darude has found his niche. Standout track for me is Music, it has touches of Sandstorm but is still so brilliantly different. The other feature which made this such a winning purchase is the bonus CD I got with 6 new mixes of Sandstorm and Feel the Beat.
