Editorial Reviews

Review

This books presents an intelligent and exciting account of Edward Fitzgerald Beale. This man led a very intriguing life and the author does a brilliant job of articulating each adventure so they blend together in a story line format that seems would be fit for the movie screen. - Tim Tierney
Author, "The P.T. Sales Education Textbook"

"In the tradition of the great biographers comes this tale of a real-life character whose experiences rival many fictional heros.  RUSH TO DESTINY belongs in a collection with the finest carefully researched, accurate, and realistic novels."  Kathy Robin, RAVE REVIEWS, New York, NY

"What a fascinating character Ned Beale was!  An intelligent and raucous read!"  David Brown, producer, JAWS and COCOON, New York, NY

"...as in his El Lazo novels, Mr. Martin displays a keen historical eye for the period he is writing about.  From the clothing worn to the food eaten or the weapons used by his characters, it is clear this author has done his research."  John Walden, History Room, Beale Memorial Library --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

From the Author

Of all my works there are none I'm more proud of than RUSH TO DESTINY.  Beale was a character unequaled by others during Manifest Destiny, and later during the 19th Century.  Beale didn't seek fame as did Custer and Fremont, Beale merely charged forward for country and family. If you love the west, you should know the exploits of Ned Beale. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suspenseful book!, September 23, 2011
This review is from: Rush To Destiny (Kindle Edition)
I found this book to be well-written and enjoyable at the same time. This book took the time to explain the storyline in great detail and the story came alive. I had an idea who Ned Beale was as I know the name was mentioned either in a movie or on television. I hope the author writes more of these types of books as I would love to read them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good and a memorable book, September 23, 2011
This review is from: Rush To Destiny (Kindle Edition)
This is a unique book with a historical focus on an early western lifestyle. I found this book to be exciting and it completely grabbed my attention right at the start of the book. The storyline was consistent and carried me throughout the story. I enjoy historical stories and it's wonderful how they add real life history to the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved it!, September 22, 2011
This review is from: Rush To Destiny (Kindle Edition)
Since I love these types of histories, especially one as exciting as this, I dove right into the book, much of the story being known to me from previous readings. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the in-depth stories and insights into early California history. I have to say that I was not disappointed at all by this book, Edward Fitzgerald Beale's interesting life was well written and delivered.
